11 Reasons Why Fall Is My Favorite Season

It's just the smell in the air that makes me fall in love with fall every year. Stepping outside and hearing newly fallen leaves crunch beneath your feet is just the icing on the cake to an all around amazing season. Even though fall means winter is looming ahead, it's just another reason to take advantage of the beautiful weather while there's still time.

1. Halloween Movie Marathons

Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Casper, and The Haunted Mansion are only a few classic halloween movies that signal that the fall season is among us. What sounds better then cozying up on the couch with a mug of hot cocoa watching halloween movies all night long?

2. Bonfires

Sitting around the fire with your friends on a fall night is one of the best feelings ever. Great conversation turns into amazing memories that last a lifetime.

3. Apple Picking

Apple picking is one of my favorite activities to do with my family during the fall season. Tractor rides, stuffing scarecrows, and corn mazes just enhance the fall atmosphere while apple picking.

4. Apple cider donuts

Enough said.

5. Pumpkin carving

Even though I'm so far from being a Picasso, pumpkin carving is fun at any age. Whether you're carving an intricate werewolf or a simple grinning pumpkin, the outcome is worth it when you see your carved pumpkin glowing in the dark on a spooky Halloween night. Not to mention the baked pumpkin seeds that are just a bonus to the carving experience.

6. Haunted hayrides

Haunted hayrides are the most exciting and terrifying experience of the fall season. Whether you go to your neighbor's homemade haunted trail through their backyard or a professionally-done hayride at a haunted battleground, you're in for some fun. Well, it depends on your definition of fun.

7. Changing of the leaves

Whether you're a leaf peeper or live in a place with beautiful foliage in the fall, the progressive changing of the leaves is a sight you can't miss.

8. Sweater weather

One of the best feelings is being able to go outside into the crisp, fall air with just a sweater on. There's only a short time frame in the fall during which it's the perfect temperature for this so take advantage and show off your cute fall clothes before winter forces us to bundle up.

9. End of tourist season

Living in a place where the summer is bustling with tourists really makes you appreciate the fall when everyone leaves. The landscape is more beautiful than it is during the summer and you get to enjoy this season in a ghost town, just the way you like it.

10. Football season

What would fall be without football? Whether you're a football fan or not, there's nothing like watching a football game under Friday night lights.

11. Thanksgiving

Family, food, and great conversation ... what else do you need?

April Ludgate

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
