The end of the semester has finally arrived! Finals are a thing of the past, graduation has come and gone, and freedom is ours at last. But before we settle into summer and leave our mountain home behind (whether it be for a few weeks, a few months or a few years), let's take a moment to appreciate the guy who’s supported us through it all. Here are 11 reasons we love the Mount’s main man, Emmit S. Burg.

1. There's no question that Emmit is the most supportive mascot out there.

Emmit always has a “thumbs up” or a high five at the ready just to let us know that we got this academia thing on lock and we’re killin’ it. He knows we’re hard-working students and his encouragement knows no ends. Thanks, Emmit. What a pal.

2. Emmit takes the best selfies.

Nobody can deny Emmit’s mad selfie swag.

Strike a pose, Emmit. So vogue.

3. Emmit loves to support our sports teams.

He gets pretty excited about it too.

4. Nobody gets excited about Christmas quite the same way Emmit gets excited about Christmas.

Snowball fights, trimming the tree, wearing ugly Christmas sweaters are all pastimes Emmit gets crazy about! He can't contain his excitement, and who can blame him? Thanks for spreading that good ol’ Christmas spirit, Emmit, and for keeping it all year round.

5. Emmit always rides in style.

Look at him go! So fly. So care-free. So Mount proud.

6. He's such the professional.

Emmit knows just how important professional development is. That's why he never fails to bring his updated resume to job fairs! With a sharp-looking suit, a solid resume (no doubt crafted with the guidance of the Career Center!) and that great big smile, there's no doubt that any company would benefit from having Emmit on their team!

7. He also makes time for his studies.

Emmit knows how important academics are! Gotta get them grades, son!

8. Even in the midst of his studies and professional development, Emmit makes time for his health and exercise.

He’s always down to play a little b-ball, practice his tennis skills or get some good cardio in, all while wearing a coonskin cap. What a baller.

9. He's a mountaineer.

One of the things that makes Emmit so great is that he’s a big, burly mountain climber with a thick beard, massive arms and the heart of an excited puppy.

“The Flex” is Emmit’s favorite pose. It makes him feel tough, even though his insides are so soft. What a guy.

10. Emmit shares our deep love of the Mount.

I love Mount St. Mary’s, you love Mount St. Mary’s and Emmit S. Burg loves Mount St. Mary’s. Emmit has Mount pride for dayz and he's never afraid to show it!

11. Emmit will always be there to welcome us home.

No matter where we go or for how long we're gone, Emmit will always be a pal, ready to welcome us back to our mountain home with open arms.
