11 Reasons We Can't Wait For Summer

Summer is right around the corner and will be here before we know it. There are plenty of things that we can't wait for, but here are some of the things we are looking forward to the most:

1. Sunshine

It really is the best part of summer. There is nothing better than waking up, walking outside, and seeing the sun shining bright in the sky. It automatically puts us in a better mood and keeps us outside all day to enjoy its presence.

2. Bonfires

Gathering around the campfire with friends after a long day is so relaxing. The heat of the fire against your skin feels great on a cool summer night. Stories are told better, and laughs are always laughed harder around a fire. Some of the best memories are made here. Oh, and roasting marshmallows or making s'mores in the burning embers only adds to the greatness.

3. Lake Days

Whether you are out on the boat, on the paddle board, or out tubing, you are having fun out on the lake. It is so much fun to be on the lake with friends and family, doing whatever makes you happy.

4. Summer Concerts

These are only the most looked-forward to events of the summer! It's so much fun getting a group of friends together and finding some cheap tickets and enjoying a nice, outdoor jam session.

5. Food on the grill

The thing we miss the most when summer is over is the barbecues. There is something so delicious about a burger or hotdog cooked on the grill. I won't forget to mention steaks , chicken, ribs, potatoes... okay, I need to stop.

6. Being poolside

Whether you are tanning poolside, laying on a raft in the pool, or getting your laps in, being around the pool in the summer is so refreshing. We can't wait to just grab a drink (or two) and head to the pool to absorb some much needed Vitamin D this summer.

7. Festivals

What's summer if you don't attend a festival? Whether it's a music festival or even a good ol' hometown festival, we can't wait to buy tickets and make a weekend out of it with our friends.

8. Cruising with the windows rolled down

That's a perfectly described summer in 10 words.

9. Being reunited with friends that went to different schools

You barely get to see some of your best friends all school year because you all have gone away to different schools. The feeling of being reunited with them and planning trips and things to do with each other all summer is something we all can't wait for.

10. Traveling

Whether you're studying abroad or taking a long weekend to walk around the streets of New York City, summer is the time to go places you have always been itching to go.. Take some time out of your schedule and a little cash out of the bank and go enjoy the place you want to explore.

11. Freedom

Summer just gives us this feeling of freedom. Even if we're working or taking summer classes, there is still nothing better than the feeling we get when summer officially hits us. So many memories are made with family and friends during these short months that we will rememebr for a lifetime. We're ready for you, summer!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
