The first thing you need to know about Wawa is that if you try to tell anyone from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida or Delaware that it's "just a gas station" they will probably try to fight you.

Wawa holds a special place in the hearts of people from the northeast and we will defend Wawa until the day we die. Here's some history. Wawa has been around since the 1800s and started out as a dairy business created by a man named George Wood from New Jersey who moved to Pennsylvania to start his business. As business grew they began opening store front locations and expanding their markets to other household groceries. Today people from the northeast know and love Wawa for the snacks, the hoagies, the coffees, and most importantly the memories.

From morning coffee on your way to school to making your designated driver stop here for drunk snacks late at night, here are 11 reasons Wawa is way more than just a gas station.

1. The Deli & Hoagiefest

Hoagiefest, it's the most wonderful time of the year if you're lucky enough to live around a Wawa. It's affordable, convenient, and obviously delicious. Once you see your Wawa's beloved employees break out their rainbow colored shirts you know you'll be there at least 7 days a week for those amazing deals. Nothing like a custom classic hoagie for $4.79.

2. No Surcharge ATMs

Every Wawa is guaranteed to have a surcharge free ATM which helps out more than you can imagine. If you don't have time to stop at a bank and need some cash Wawa will always have your back.

3. The Workers

Snacks and a smile anyone? Wawa employees have a way to brighten up any gloomy day just by existing. They'll always be there to answer any questions and more importantly, provide you with your custom hoagies, snacks, and iced drink orders.

4. Free, Clean Bathrooms All The Time

Customer only bathrooms are a way to make anyone needing to go on the road miserable. Not Wawa though, any time you need to make a pitstop you can count on them to be there with clean, reliable bathrooms- but you'll probably getting some snacks anyway.

5. Always Clean

In all the times I've been to Wawa, which I can't even imagine trying to estimate, I have never seen it messy or dirty. Their staff makes sure to stay on top of messes and always handles them quickly and promptly.

6. Every Snack Imaginable

Chips, candy, and cookies are a given in any store similar (yet inferior) to Wawa. Wawa is different. Wawa goes above and beyond your snack necessities. Mac and cheese, quesadillas, bagels, chicken fingers, mashed potatoes, french toast and bacon bowls, soups, paninis, burritios; the list goes on. There are an overwhelming amount of options.

7. Coffee

A morning wake-up pit-stop, an afternoon pick me up, or an evening coffee stop on a long drive. The coffee flavors, creamer options, and hot chocolate never cease to amaze me. If you're a hardcore caffeine addict like myself you'll definitely be aware of your Wake Up Mocha in the machine next to all the mocha flavors.

6. Wawa Mac and A Warm Cookie

7. Around Every Corner

If you live in the tristate you're most likely surrounded by 3-10 Wawas at any given moment. The locations are endless which is one of the reasons it is so popular for so many people.

8. Midnight Wawa Runs

Most Wawas are open 24 hours, 365 days a year. When nothing else is open, Wawa is there. If I'm being honest, Wawa is the most constant thing in my life.

9. Wawa Rewards

Wawa has an app and rewards program for all of its regulars. You pay on your phones by adding money and racking up points which can eventually lead to getting discounts and birthday promotions. It also provides gas prices, nutrition information, and social media check in's if you wanted to let your friends know every time you're at Wawa. But if you're like me, you probably won't check in every time because it would be kind of embarrassing for everyone to know how often you were actually there.

10. "Wanna Stop At Wawa Before?"

No trip is complete without Wawa. Getting snacks for the ride, where ever you're going, and of course for after. It's a given that any trip to the beach will start with stopping at Wawa and filling up a cooler with lunch and all your favorite snacks.

11. Wawa Gas Stations

Yes, we know people from out of state think Wawa is just a gas station but after reading this you'll understand why it's so much more than that. The first gas station wasn't added to a Wawa until 1996 but it makes the appeal and convenience even greater than it was before. Wawa really is everything you need and more in life.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
