11 Reasons Why I Should Be The Next UVA President

After reading fellow Odyssey creator Elizabeth Muratore's article offering up 11 possible replacements for Teresa Sullivan as President of the University, I was appalled that my name hasn't been thrown out there as a viable candidate.

As a result, I'm officially declaring my intention to run and be considered for the position, and I've offered 11 captivating reasons why I'm the best person for the job.

1. I'm fairly punctual

2. I tend to work hard

3. I value teamwork

4. My biggest flaw is that I'm a perfectionist

5. I'm a problem solver

6. I am always knowledgeable and well-prepared

7. My hands aren't that small

8. I'm sort of a jack of all trades

9. I already have a personal mascot with basically the same name as me

10. I generally mild mannered

11. I've written for The Odyssey, so I know how to deal with the press

Odds I'm chosen are probably slim, however. Whatever, we all know it's rigged.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. 7. Classes will be boring and quiet for you if you don’t know anyone.

8. Walking around campus is just awkward.

9. Homework help and study buddies do not exist.

7. You have shown up to the library hungover on more than one occasion.

8. Your friends always text you when they are going to the library because they know you will be there.
