High school tennis season is just around the block, and I know I am excited to start playing lots of tennis. I think you should definitely start playing tennis now too! Tennis is a great sport with lots of mental and physical benefits anybody can reap.

1. You can live longer.

Scientists have proven that the physical, mental and emotional gains you make by playing tennis has a correlation to a longer life. I would love a few more years of life to binge watch a few more shows on Netflix.

2. Everybody can play tennis.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, how good you are, or how fit you are; anybody can start playing! I can play with 60-year old coach and my friend's 10-year-old sister.

3. You will have super clear skin.

Although it gets kind of gross, I guess sweating buckets in the hot sun has its benefits too!

4. Tennis makes you smarter.

Tennis requires quick problem solving skills that create more neural connections in your brain. It is a game that involves a lot of geometry, angles and physics. Yeah, this sport involves math and science.

5. It increases your whole body’s coordination.

Having to have your arms, legs and torso in the positions at the right times can make or break your match. Also, wouldn’t it be great to reduce the amount of times you trip up and down stairs in public?

6. It teaches you how to adjust to your conditions.

Sometimes you need to hit differently when it is windy; sometimes you have to look straight into the sun to serve. I can now adjust to a very large range of temperatures too!

7. Tennis teaches you good sportsmanship.

In any normal tennis match, players must call balls in or out without a referee. This teaches you how to play fairly and honestly.

8. You will probably get sick less.

Due to the nature of tennis, and its ability to greatly improve the condition of your body, your body will be able to fight pathogens with ease.

9. The outfits are really cute.

I could stare at tank tops with cool cutouts for days. And don’t get me started on the shoes and hats!

10. You can get fit, fast.

Tennis involves a lot of running and strength. It can give you the toned arms and legs you have always wanted in no time at all. You will also stop making excuses and go to those charity races and run them with ease.

11. You will never feel like you are not good enough.

There are people at every level in every age. Do not feel like it is too late for you to start playing. I get it, it was awkward when you swam with a bunch of 6-year-olds at your first swim lesson.

You can be 7 or 97 and tennis can be the sport for you. I encourage you to find a friend and get out there with a racquet and some balls. Anybody can do it, so why not you?

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
