A suburban campus feel in the heart of a city is overrated.

For those who may not know, Marquette University is a private Jesuit university located in the heart of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It boasts a student body of just over 8,000 undergrads and a little under 2,000 grad students, with various majors offered. But what many prospective students may not know, is that this school is not all it's cracked up to be.

1. It's in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Milwaukee's beautiful lakefront, the Third Ward, the Milwaukee Art Museum, craft breweries, Miller Park, and the bustling downtown scene are just some of the great things this city has to offer. I mean, who would want a lakefront view, anyways?

2. The campus is full of history.

So boring, right? SJoA 10pm Tuesday night mass, I love you.

3. The alumni are underwhelming.

The founder of Texas Instruments, the inventor of Bagel Bites, the late Chris Farley, oh, and these two guys—just to name a few.

4. There's a dorm shaped like a beer can.

The famous landmark on campus and coveted freshman dorm, Victor McCormick Hall.

5. You can't go anywhere on campus without seeing someone you know.

Familiar faces around every corner remind you that you're not alone, no matter how far from home you may be. Who would want to go to school with a bunch of their friends? Not me!

6. Dining halls offer hot cookies.

Because sinking a spoon into a piping hot cookie (topped with ice cream, if you're feeling bold) is the actual worst.

7. The president is involved in the majority campus activities.

From his presence at Midnight Run, to Tuesday night Joan of Arc mass, to joining students for yoga on the quad, to hosting dinners for campus sports teams—everyone loves Lovell.

8. Students only have 300 student organizations to choose from.

From Greek life, to Ad Club, to Campus Ministry, to Club Sports—there's something for everyone to get involved in/with. If 300 isn't enough for you, I don't know what is.

9. They constantly push students to grow in their faith, show leadership, do service, and achieve excellence.

The core values of Marquette along with Marquette's mission encourage students to "set the world on fire" after graduation, to really "Be The Difference" in their community.

10. The basketball program has never been that great.

Coaches like Al McGuire, Rick Majerus, and Tom Crean mixed with players like Butch Lee, Bo Ellis, Doc Rivers, Dwayne Wade, Steve Novak, and Jimmy Butler—it's no wonder that Marquette has been a known basketball powerhouse in the Big East conference for decades.

11. There are too many flowers on campus.

When it's not snowing, the campus is in full bloom with flowers of every color around every corner. I mean, who doesn't love that?

So you see, I guess what I'm trying to say, is that Marquette really isn't all it's cracked up to be—it's more.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
