11 Reasons Why October Is The Best Month
Looking 4 Ancestors

October is here, bringing with it the best three months of the year. No offense to January through September, but you cannot deny that October, November and December have the best holidays. My favorite month is October, for obvious reasons. It's like the delicious buttercream frosting on top of the funfetti cake. The following are reasons why October is without a doubt the best month.

1. Fall Colors

The beautiful colors that come with autumn and October are hard to beat. It's such a powerful symbol of change, and is a nice consolation for fall allergies.

2. Cooler Weather

While here in Louisiana the weather hasn't quite cooled down all the way yet, it's nice to know that it's coming soon. October's weather introduces a welcome chill to the air, giving us a reprive from sweating every time we walk out the door.

3. Halloween

THIS IS HALLOWEEN!! It's time for the spooky scary skeletons to send shivers down your spine. Enough said.

4. MLB Playoffs

Sports fans know how amazing October is for baseball. The atmosphere is electric at every stage of the playoffs, culminating with the World Series.

5. Pumpkin EVERYTHING

While I love carving pumpkins and certain pumpkin foods, I'm not basic enough to be a ride or die Pumpkin Spice Latte lover. However, it is a symbol of October so of course it's on the list.

6. Scary Movies

I personally cannot wait to have a "Halloween" marathon in October. Watching scary movies sets the spooky scene for my favorite holiday, raising the hair on the back of my neck in the perfect way.

7. Costume Parties

October brings with it Halloween costume parties, and they're oh so entertaining. It's always fun to see how some ladies make any costume sexual (I've already seen a sexy Harambe). I always love to see what creative costumes my friends come up with too, like Senator Rand Paul's disguise as the national debt (because what's scarier than $18 trillion of debt, right?).

8. Fall Fashion

Along with the cooler weather, October offers so much more in the world of cute, comfortable clothing. It's totally acceptable to throw on a big sweater and leggings as a cute outfit for pretty much any occasion.

9. Childhood Memories

I get super nostalgic around October and Halloween, because I have so many great childhood memories from this time. Going on hayrides, picking apples and carving pumpkins were the highlights of the month. Also, great kids movies and shows like "Halloweentown," "Hocus Pocus," and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," were hallmarks of my childhood that I still enjoy today. When adulthood sucks, I revert back to these classics and I immediately feel better.

10. Haunted Houses

It's not October unless you go to at least one haunted house. I'm pretty sure it's the law. Nothing gets you in the Halloween spirit more than a haunted house, trail or hayride.

11. The Beginning of the Holiday Season

October kicks off three months of holiday cheer. The "Big 3" of holidays start with Halloween in October, then Thanksgiving in November, followed by Christmas in December, with New Year's as an added bonus. It puts me in such a good mood to be looking forward to these celebrations, which is why I love October.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
