Imagine this. Music blaring out of every speaker, filling the room with bass, pressing against your heart as you anticipate the performance. Sudden she sweeps out onto the stage, twirling around in her gorgeous dress. She walks confidently in her seven-inch heels, gracing spinning down the stage before she falls into a death split. The crowd goes wild, calling her name and cheering on her dance. This is what a drag show is like.

Drag Shows are a huge part of Bowling Green society and if you haven't been to one, you're missing out! Beautiful performers light up the stage for all to see! This is a protected, open atmosphere where everyone and anyone is allowed to come. I can think of a million reasons to love drag shows but here's eleven for ya, sugah.

1. THE SASS.

If you thought you were sassy as a brazen child, you were dead wrong. These women can throw some shade like it was their job. Oh wait. It is their job.

2. The hair!

Imagine if you could get your hair (instead of laying painfully flat) to spruce up like that! Talk about hair goals!

3. The performances!

Despite all of the drag queens being perfect in every physical way, their acting skills are even better! Many of them perform songs; some even perform small monologues as well! Either way, they're all perfect.

6. The outfits!

Like their hair, makeup, performances, personalities, and everything else, their outfits are always over the top. Even if it is a simple leotard, you better believe there is some crystal on their somewhere. What better place is there to get your fashion fix?

7. The makeup!

This look would look a little crazy out and about but under those stage lights? Talk about an entrance! Their makeup and always on point, after they've beat their face and blocked their brows of course.

8. The MCs!

In between performances, there will occassionally be a emcee that works the even while the drag queens are getting ready. These women are usually the stars of their own show. They are also drag queens with enough sass to go around. They usually host a small game or get together for audience members to keep the crowds entertained!

9. The dancing!

To some, this may look like two queens kind of flopping down onto the ground but I assure you.... it is exactly that. This women can surely hit a pose and can always dance their asses off. Sometimes, though, they'll surprise audiences with something called a death drop. This is where a queen will jump and land in this pose! It never ceases to amaze a crowd!

10. The antics of the show!

Every show comes with it's fair share of antics by the queens. Don't be shocked if you see a queen dance silly with a patron, pull someone up on stage, or even do something that is a bit kooky! They're there to have fun too!

11. Of course, the Queens themselves.

What would drag shows be without the Queens themselves? Boring. They would be boring. These wonderful people come together to do what they love for audiences who love to see them. They deserve our love and support (and our dollar bills while they're performing)!

Keep queening, you gorgeous people you. Mwah!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
