Throughout school, I had gone to public school for years and decided on my own I wanted to be homeschooled. There are so many things I like about doing online school although a lot of people have negative things about it there are so many positive things about it. And no we are not socially awkward.

1. You get to chose your education level

Coming from a small town there weren't any private schools that offered a high education level, the school I first attended didn't quite offer the education I wanted. When homeschooled and choosing the school you get to choose the level of education that you want. You can delve into your favorite topics and pick the electives of your interest.

2. It teaches you a lot of responsibility

When doing online school you have to have the self-motivation to do your work and get it in, in a home environment there is things around your house you would rather do but you have to be responsible and get your school work done first.

3. You get to do your work in any environment

In public school, you are trapped in one building and in small rooms all day for hours at a time. When homeschooled you can go outside and enjoy the nice weather or take your school with you anywhere you are going. School work is more enjoyable in a nice environment.

4. You don't have to worry about missing when you have doctors appointments or other things

When going to public school you always have to work the days you missed for exams and catching up. Being homeschooled you are always excused and can do all your work anytime, day or night as long as you get it done.

5. You can dress any way you want

There is no dress code! If you want to be comfy and stay in your pajamas all day that's totally acceptable. If you want to show your whole shoulder that's even acceptable!

6. You can sleep in

I love my sleep and the feeling of being so refreshed after sleeping in. I can think better when I don't have to wake up at 5 am every morning.

7. You can work at your own pace

You can take your time and make it the normal four years or if you are like me focus and work very hard and get done years early.

8. Alone time

I love myself time, having hours alone is awesome.

9. You learn for the sake of learning

When you aren't limited to bathroom breaks or forced to learn but have to learn on your own not just because you are forced you never dread it. You love learning.

10. No Labels

As long as you love yourself you are never judged. Just surrounded with love and no judgments, free to be yourself and not feel pressured.

11. You are more prepared for college

Getting assignments and having to do them on your own without teachers constantly giving you more time to turn stuff in it makes it easier for college when you are on your own. It has more of a college feel than public school.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
