The truth is, no matter how independent you are as a woman, you're going to need your girls. There's something kind of magic about having a group of women who've got your back and will bear witness to your life. Not convinced? Here's 11 reasons why every lady needs a girl squad.

1. Inside jokes.

The inside jokes you have with your girls are always the best. Nothing makes a group closer than the ability to say one word and have the whole group laughing.

2. Someone to send links to and tag in your IG comments.

You know those moments when you're lying in bed at 1a.m. on Instagram and try to contain your laughter? A girl squad means that you always have someone to send that cute daschund video to.

3. Savage loyalty.

A good girl squad is one that can go from chill to tough in 10 seconds flat. Whether your boss is being nasty to you, a guy won't leave you alone, or an old friend is walking through your emotional boundaries, your ladies will turn into lionesses and come to your aid.

4. You get to come up with your own name.

Because nothing solidifies your friendship like having a solid squad name. (Pick it wisely; this name will appear as your group chat name, a hashtag on IG and various scrapbooks.)

5. Someone will always want to do that thing with you.

When you have more than one female in your life, you have more chances of finding someone to accompany you to any given thing. That means you always have someone who is down to try that new restaurant, or art film or hobby.

6. You can talk it out with them.

Sure, you could journal, but getting validation from your girls as you talk about your feelings is next level.

7. You've got a pretty wide spectrum of emotion.

Diversity is the spice of life. You'll have someone who gives you tough love and pep talks you out of your sad funk, but you'll also have someone who will send you texts encouraging you to stay in bed all day and watch Netflix. A wide spectrum of emotion means you get to see your situations through a whole lot of different lenses.

8. Weddings are the best.

Whether it's someone in your squad that's getting married or you're just attending a wedding together, you'll have the best time getting ready together and later breaking it down on the dance floor.

9. Your successes will mean something to them.

As the people who have walked with you through your insecurities and obstacles with That Big Project, they will celebrate your successes enthusiastically and loudly.

10. Car rides are never boring.

Singing along in the car is a skill. Bonus points if you and your ladies sing in parts.

11. They are second family when things get serious.

Sure, you can have fun and talk until you're silly, but when things get bad, your girl squad will still be by your side.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
