She's way more than Kardashian drama.

I don’t like drama, celebrity drama included, so I have no idea what’s going on with Taylor Swift and the Kardashian's right now. Honestly, I don’t even care. I like Taylor’s music and since she’s a musician, that’s the most important part of my opinion of her. Here’s a reminder of all of T-Swift’s great qualities, along with plenty of reasons to keep listening to her, no matter what’s going on.

1. Her songs empower girls.

So many of the songs played on the radio today are about men wanting to sleep with women. The lyrics often objectify her body and discuss more of what the man wants to do to the woman than anything about the woman herself. Yet these are love songs. Meanwhile Taylor Swift has songs like ‘Blank Space’ which depict a woman making her own decisions about love and romance. That is the message we should be sending to young girls.

2. Her music is never boring.

From ‘Tim McGraw’ to ‘New Romantics,’ Taylor Swift has always been versatile. Are most of her songs about romance? Yes. But the emotions and tone of each song is different and always keep the listener excited.

3. She writes her own songs.

Most of the artists in our music industry have songs written for them. They perform well, of course, but there’s something extra special about listening to an artist like Taylor Swift, who sings songs based on her emotions and experiences, not because it was handed to her by her record label.

4. She's normal.

I know, plenty of artists are ‘normal,’ but there’s something different about T-Swift. Her childlike excitement over cats and her cozy-looking sweaters help her look like another college student you’d see roaming your campus instead of someone who’s won national musician awards. So if you’re not the type to love Lady Gaga’s meat dress, then someone like Taylor Swift is definitely more your style. Are you listening yet?

5. She's a dreamer.

I know what you’re thinking- just because she likes to dream doesn’t mean I should listen to her. But you’re wrong. Listening to Taylor Swift is like listening to her dreams coming true- she is falling in love despite being heartbroken and she is sharing her music with the world. Her achievements will inspire you to dream too.

6. There's a lot of wisdom in her songs.

I’ve never forgotten the wisdom of ‘Fifteen’ and it’s reminder that “someday you’ll do bigger things then dating the boy on the football team.” Don’t we all need a reminder that we will do bigger things- like own a corporation or write a book or be a dad- than date this one person? And that's just the wisdom of one song.

7. Half the world hates her.

There are plenty of artists hated around the world for good reasons and stupid reasons. But Taylor Swift has been hated on a lot, especially for her many relationships and her many relationship-oriented songs. Which is ridiculous because she’s a normal person who is allowed to date and express herself. And that’s exactly why you should listen- she knows what you’ve been through because she’s been through it too and if she can still express her feelings despite all the naysayers, so can you. Listen and be encouraged! Isn’t that the point of music?

8. She's humble.

The way she acts backstage during her ‘New Romantics’ music video displays her humility. She’s so delighted and enthralled by the crowd. She wasn’t pridefully strutting around, smugly smiling as thousands of fans were screaming her name. No- she was just as excited as they were, excited to share her gift and remind them that she understands and loves them. That’s humble.

9. She's brave.

Have you heard ‘Blank Space’ and ‘New Romantics’? If you haven’t, even if you hate Taylor and just looked at this to hate her more, listen to them. Right now. With these two songs she doesn’t just acknowledge what the media says about her- she owns it. She owns the rumors and the stereotypes. With all the bravery in the world, she accepts what the world has given her and she has turned it into more, incredible music. Do you still need two more reasons?

10. She's dating Tom Hiddleston.

I know dating someone doesn’t automatically mean anything, but Taylor being with Tom is different. Tom is older (thirty-five compared to her twenty-six), British, and plays supervillain Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. To many fangirls, he’s the closest to perfection humanity will ever attain. So if a gorgeous, mature British actor can look past labels and like Taylor Swift, there’s a chance you’ll like her too if you give her a chance.

11. Shake it off.

Maybe it’s wrong to use one of her songs as a reason to listen to her, but this is a different song. No matter who you are, you need some encouragement some days. Instead of getting upset- dance it out! Dance it out and listen to a song entirely dedicated to ignoring negative people. A song that just so happens to be written by Taylor Swift.

Are there some bad things about Taylor Swift? Probably. She’s human, like the rest of us, so she’s not perfect all the time. But that doesn’t mean she has bad music. So keep listening, my friends! Celebrity drama is stupid, so let’s just go back to the awesome music we celebrate our musicians for, instead of biting our nails while we watch people we’ve never met duke it out on Twitter.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
