11 Reasons To Be Excited About The DNC
NBC Nightly News

Last week we saw the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. It was full of plagiarism, lies, promotion of hate, and Donald Trump who accepted the Republican nomination for President. Starting this week on Monday, Democrats will gather in Philadelphia for their convention to nominate Hillary Clinton for President. With the ball in the Democrat's court, this week they will bring out all the heavy hitters to convince as many Americans as possible that Hillary Clinton should be our next president. Here are 11 reasons to be excited about the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

1. Bernie Sanders

We don't have to wait all week to hear from the man whose ideas inspired thousands of people across the country to "Feel the Bern". Senator Bernie Sanders is set to take the stage on the first day. You can expect to hear a strong message about uniting the party to defeat Donald Trump no matter how you voted during the primaries.

2. Bill Clinton

Once a President himself, Bill will be the first husband to speak in support of a Presidential candidate. He will speak Tuesday night in what is sure to be an amazing speech.

3. Diversity

Last week at the RNC (Republican National Convention) there was not much diversity in the crowd... but can we really be surprised? Recently, Republican Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan posted a selfie with his party's Capitol Hill interns. It is obvious to see the lack of diversity in the picture. In response, one of Democratic Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (Texas) interns' led a selfie which was full of diversity...As a result, I think we can expect to see a diverse crowd in the audience at the DNC.

4. Never Trump

Since the RNC happened first, we got a chance to hear from Trump and his supporters. Trust me, even if you didn't watch the convention you have more than likely heard everything he's said since he first announced his run for president. Last week his speech and the speeches of others

were capitalized on fears and negativity with no real plans nor explanations of how things will be achieved. This week the Democrats will capitalize on all of the degrading, racist, uneducated, untrue things Trump has said to make clear that Trump can never be the President of the United States.

5. Inclusion

One of Hillary's main messages during her campaign has been that we are stronger together. She continues to remind us that we are better as a nation when we care about issues that affect each other which means having sometimes difficult discussions. Donald Trump has made it clear that he wants to leave many people out from achieving "The American Dream" by closing our borders to groups of people. This is just one example of his many proposals.

6. Black Lives Matter/LGBTQ Community/Women's Rights

These are important topics that will undoubtedly be discussed throughout the entire convention. They are and will continue to be strong suits for Hillary in comparison to Mr. Trump.

7. First Lady Michelle Obama

Also speaking Monday is our current first lady Michelle Obama. We already know that Mrs. Obama can inspire so many people with her powerful and inspiring speeches. Melania Trump was so inspired by Mrs. Obama's DNC speech 8 years ago that she plagiarized parts of it for her the speech she gave at the RNC. Leave it to Michelle to make us laugh while reminding of us to focus on what's really at stake, this election year.

8. Gun Control

President Obama has been forced to address our nation too many times throughout his presidency due to horrific mass shootings. From the children and teachers in Newtown, to the movie goers in Colorado, people dancing at an LGBTQ club in Orlando, police shootings of unarmed African Americans, and the shootings of police to name a few. A couple weeks ago we saw Democrats filibuster for 15 hours to get a vote on restricting firearms. With a CNN poll saying 90% of Americans favor preventing people on the terror watch list or "no fly" list from buying a gun. This is one issue I feel like Hillary and other speakers will hopefully spend a good amount of time on.

9. Hope and Positivity

With all the negativity, fear, and hateful rhetoric that the Trump campaign has continued to thrive on, the Democrats will preach the opposite. They will talk about how President Obama has created so many jobs and revived our economy over the last eight years bringing our unemployment rate to the lowest its been in the last decade. The Democrats will bring an optimistic outlook and details on how to fix problems that we still face.

10. President Barack Obama

We know President Obama knows how to get Americans fired up with his speeches especially at the DNC. Eight years ago he made history at the DNC and now Hillary will too. He will give us every possible reason to get behind her. #HesWithHer

11. Hilary Clinton

She has given plenty of speeches before but this will be the biggest one for her. This is the speech that will define her and everything she hopes to accomplish and everything she needs to make us believe so that we do not end up with a Trump Presidency come January. She will take the stage Thursday night and attempt to convince as many Americans as possible that she will fight for us.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
