Going to college in Denver is as unique as it sounds. CU Denver is a campus that offers students the chance to live in Denver, explore the city, or simply enjoy everything that Denver has to offer on a daily basis, all while pursing a degree. Although the University of Colorado school system includes CU Boulder and CU Colorado Springs (UCCS), these schools are traditional colleges, complete with living on campus and located in college towns. In comparison, CU Denver is the ultimate college campus, where many students commute to classes, making it one of the most underrated colleges in Colorado.

1. First of all, the campus is located in Denver.

You can't beat these views.

2. You can get to campus by the Light Rail, which is pretty convenient.

Taking the train makes getting to class easy, and will be your new favorite way to get around Denver.

3. The campus is also constantly being upgraded, making it current.

Construction, construction everywhere.

4. CU Denver is also part of the Auraria Campus, which includes Metropolitan State University and Community College of Denver.

This means the campus is huge. Also, you may get lost, which is why maps were created.

5. Most classes do not meet on Friday, which makes it easier to build your schedule.

No class on Friday also means a three day weekend.

6. Classes are also offered online, which makes it easy to only be on campus twice a week.

You can stay home and work on homework, which can limit how many days you are in class.

7. If you are pursuing a major in the health field, it is affiliated with the Anschutz Medical Campus which has become nationally recognized.

It's like going to two colleges at once.

8. There are also specialized majors like a Bachelor's in public health that you can't find at other schools.

It makes finding your specific major and career path easier.

9. The tuition is cheaper than other schools in Colorado so you can save money by not living on campus.

Extra money= more money for textbooks and other expenses.

10. Class sizes are also smaller, which makes it easier to get to know your professors.

Although some of your classes will be big, most of them are smaller in size, so won't get lost in the large lectures awkwardly not knowing your professor all semester.

11. Most of all, CU Denver is a diverse campus, where you can meet people of all ages and all walks of life, making it a non- traditional campus.

GO LYNX!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
