As I’m writing this, I’m sitting in a broken lawn chair, wrapped in a purple zebra-striped blanket and the itchiest hat probably ever. It is 11:03 AM, and I have been sitting in this exact spot since 6. That’s right, AM. I’m waiting in the for The 1975's concert and, despite the fact that Morrison, CO is expected to reach a low of 34 degrees by nightfall, I’m having a great time. There is a liberal dusting of snow on the rocks, and there’s definitely some mud on my new white shoes, but all of that seems insignificant in comparison to the experience. Red Rocks is arguably the most incredible concert venue in Colorado. All other venues simply pale in comparison, and here is why:

1. The Show Must Go On

Tickets literally read “Rain or Shine.” You can always count on this venue to pull through, even if it's pouring rain, blisteringly hot, or snowing!

2. Nature

Nestled right below the foothills, the area surrounding Red Rocks is home to all different kinds of wildlife.

3. General Admission

This can actually be a bit stressful, but also very cool if you are able to snag good enough seats!

4. The Space

Even if you don’t get the closest view, Red Rocks can hold up to a little over 9,000 people. There is room for everyone here.

5. The Bands

There’s something magical about hearing these mega-famous, larger-than-life performers absolutely stunned by the beauty of the venue.

6. Red Rocks at Night

The two towering rocks on either side of the venue are typically lit by the soft glow of the stage lights, and more often than not the sky is dotted with thousands of tiny, twinkling stars. It’s a completely unique and ambient experience.

7. The History

Red Rocks has been around for over 75 years!

8. The Acoustics

It doesn’t really matter where you end up sitting; the venue’s amazing acoustics allow for sound to be heard even from the very top of the rocks.

9. Famous Concerts

Legendary bands such as The Beatles and U2 have graced the stage once or twice before.

10. The View

From the Upper North Lot, the top of the seating area, or any of the various trails surrounding the area, much of the front range area is visible. You can even see Denver and DIA!

11. Making Friends

Waiting in line can sometimes be grueling and boring, but it’s easy to make friends at Red Rocks. People from all different states flock to Colorado for the experience, and nothing brings people together quite like music and this beautiful venue.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
