11 Reasons I Am Proud To Be A Cowboy
The Lost Ogle

Oklahoma State has many claims such as America's Healthiest Campus and America's brightest oragne. Here are 11 Reasons why I am proud to attend Oklahoma State University.

1. The Cowboy family

Many people view this as a marketing tool for prospective students but the sense of family is alive and well at Oklahoma State.

2. Orange is the happiest color

Frank Sinatra said it best. There is just something about this color that makes you smile.

3. Mike Gundy

At the first home football game this year I witnessed Gundy's class. As they were honoring a purple heart war veteran durning a timeout Gundy stopped coaching walked over to the man and shook the hand of the veteran and his family. Just one example of how OSU faculty exhibit class.

4. Orange Friday

Nothing is better than walking to class on Friday with a sea of orange shirts around you.

5. Alma Mater

Whether it is at the beginning of a football game or ringing out from the bell tower at Edmon Low every time I hear that familiar tune my heart fills with pride.

6. Professors care

A lot of colleges claim this but at OSU we show it! All of the faculty and staff here are second to none and care about every student that walks through their door.

7. Still Loyal, Still True

No matter what we face at OSU we always bounce back twice as strong. To look at the things this university has overcome in the last decade is remarkable. Every challenge we face, we face as a family.

8. Traditions run deep

No matter what event you attend there is always some tradition connected to it that bridges the gap between alumni and current students,

9. Cowboy Marching Band

When the band can play anything from the waving song to Never Been to Spain you know your going to the right college.

10. Homecoming

To watch and be involved in America's greatest homecoming celebration is pretty amazing. All of the hard work and dedication from students to give us one spectacular celebration shows the love that people have for this college and campus.

11. The People

Probably the best thing about this university is the people that surround you everyday. The connections and friendships that have came from this university are a true testimant to what the cowboy family is all about!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
