11 Reason Why Music Is Mankind's Most Stunning Invention

Music in many ways can save hundreds of souls. The lyrics, the rhythm, the tune—we would be nowhere without music. To some, it is more than the mere entertainment or background noise many use while studying or cooking. Music can mean the world and beyond to some. It can heal and nurture. Sometimes the passion isn't specifically centered on listening, but making music as well. Here are 11 reasons why music is mankind's most stunning invention.

1. Music is a universal language. Everyone understands rhythm, dance, beat and tune, and everyone can join along in singing and dancing. It can bring together those of different cultures, races, religions, and even people who are disabled. Music can unite in ways nothing else in the world can.

2. There is a song out there meant for you. No matter how picky you are with your sounds, there is something in this world, that someone has created that can make you feel something.

3. Music is art, just like dance. For anyone that does not believe it is, cannot understand the concept of rhythm and tune.

4. Music is cultural. Music can showcase hundreds of different cultures, from time periods we have only witnessed on paper.

5. There is a song for every moment you have experienced, and for every thing you have witnessed with your eyes. There is a song for that one time you clumsily walked up the steps of a bar because you were too tipsy, or a song for that time you felt your heart break. There is a song for when you were laughing with your loved ones around you, and for that one time you cried at the metro when you felt like your world was ending. There is a song for the emotions you felt for when you saw the Eiffel Tower sparkle for the first time at midnight.

6. Music can bring back hundreds of memories. If I ever feel nostalgic for a certain period in my life, I listen to the songs I loved back then and look at old pictures. Music can take me years back.

7. Music can unite crowds, heal and nurture. Music can help your development as a kinder human being.

8. Some of my most favorite memories are connected to music. When I'm driving with my friends, singing at our favorite songs. When I'm at concerts, dancing all my problems away. Music brings experiences that make for wonderful memories.

9. Music can heal a broken heart in ways you never thought possible.

10. Music is movement, and it gives you ample opportunities to become active and healthy by dancing, walking, or running.

11. We would be nowhere without music. Every kind of music is beautiful in its own special way. There is a sound out there for you, go find it if you have not.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
