Break-ups are hard. You go from talking to somebody every day for an insane amount of time, to not talking to them at all. You start to plan for the future, but suddenly those plans are changing again. You put your all into somebody and receive nothing in return. It seems like overnight you went from being their everything to being their nothing.

You know what's just as bad, if not worse than, a relationship break-up? A break-up with a friend. You see memories popping up on Facebook about the things you did a year ago... But now? Now you aren't even friends on Facebook. This person came into your life and you thought they wouldn't leave. They showed you that you didn't need a boy to make you happy. But then suddenly, things were changing again. You feel like you've wasted so much time on them, and can't believe you didn't see through their manipulative ways sooner. But, you also see them around and wish things could go back to normal.

Whether you're going through a break up with a boyfriend/girlfriend, or a break-up with your best friend, here's some quotes to keep in mind whenever you feel a set back coming your way:

1. "A heart that's broke is a heart that's been loved." - Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran always knows the right things to say. It might suck feeling the low now, but that's only because you felt the high before, and a high like that is always worth the low.

2. "People think, because we're young, we aren't complex, but that's not true. We deal with life and love and broken hearts in the same way a woman a few years older might." - Rhianna

Don't let somebody tell you that you're too young to know what heartbreak is. Your feelings are your feelings, and none of them are invalid.

3. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr. Seuss

No matter what you do, bad things are bound to happen in life. But, the good outweighs the bad, every time, if you let it.

4. "No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind." - Taylor Swift

Taking it back to Middle School, I know. Put that aside, and Taylor Swift actually has some really inspirational things to say. No matter what the other person does to you, kill them with kindness, because it will honestly do wonders.

5. "Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope." - Maya Angelou

When you're feeling like you've lost love, remember this. Remember what you deserve, and go find it. It's okay to miss your person, but remember that next time, you're going to find someone who jump just as many hurdles for you, as you would for them.

6. "At some point, you just pull off the Band-Aid, and it hurts, but then it's over and you're relieved. " - John Green

Pulling off the Band-Aid is never easy, but once it is, it's going to feel so good. Don't be afraid to take the leap.

7. "When it feels scary to jump, that is exactly when you jump, otherwise you end up staying in the same place your whole life, and that I can't do." -J.C. Chandor

Taking the leap is the next step towards something magnificent. Staying in the same place your whole life is not leading an extraordinary life, and an extraordinary life is the bare minimum you should be striving for.

8. "You build on failure. you use it as a stepping stone. close the door on the past. you don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." - Johnny Cash

There's two people in a relationship, and you can't blame it all on the other person. This is okay. We are loved for our perfect imperfections. You are not expected to go through life without making mistakes. It's what you do with your mistakes that shape who you are. Learn from them. Better yourself from them.

9. "The most important thing is to enjoy your life - to be happy - it's all that matters." - Audrey Hepburn

Enjoy life. Live it to the fullest. Don't let somebody else knock you down and always keep a smile.

10. "When it comes down to it. I let people think what they want. And if they care enough to bother with what I do, I already know I'm better than them." - Marilyn Monroe

Don't worry about what others are thinking or saying. Any talk is something, right? Be better than them and find the people who can see the real you.

11. "Yeah we all shine on, like the moon, and the stars, and the sun." - John Lennon

You might have thought that you weren't able to live without them, but in the end, life goes on. Keep shining.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
