The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. Between numerous backyard cookouts on Independence Day weekend, I always find myself looking for new things to make every year. Although I love baking, I don't exactly have the patience or time to whip up a batch of perfectly frosted cupcakes for every single B so quick and easy Pinterest recipes are alway a go-to for me. With July 4th approaching, I thought I would share some simple and cute ideas that I found while searching the depths of Pinterest. These items are easy enough for everyone to make and impressive enough to impress even the most talented baker.

1. Red, white, and blue Rice Krispie treats

Rice Krispie treats are a staple for parties because they're just as yummy as they are easy to make. Step it up a notch with this recipe and turn this dessert staple into an impressive Independence Day treat.

2. White chocolate dipped pretzels

Another simple way to celebrate America. With white chocolate, food coloring, sprinkles, and pretzel sticks, this is creative enough to impress but easy enough for anyone to make.

3. Firework pudding cookies

Cookies that are made with pudding mix turn out softer, chewier, and better tasting. Here is a variation with red and blue M&Ms that everyone will love.

4. American Flag cheese and cracker tray

All you need for this is cheese, crackers, pepperoni, and a star-shaped cookie cutter!

5. Red, white, and blue white chocolate covered cherries

A unique way to use colored white chocolate and sprinkles. Get creative and make different variations of this cute dessert.

6. Patriotic Oreo pops

Cake pops are extremely popular right now, but can be difficult and time-consuming to make. These Oreo pops are just as cute and much easier.

7. Firecracker hot dog pops

Save the grill for burgers and serve this variation of "pigs in a blanket" at your Fourth of July cookout!

8. Patriotic caramel pretzel bites

These chocolate caramel pretzel bites are quick and foolproof.

9. Patriotic popcorn

Popcorn isn't usually associated with backyard cookouts, but this patriotic version is perfect for your Independence Day BBQ.

10. M&M Flag Cake

If you aren't great with a piping bag, no worries! All you need is colored M&Ms to decorate this cake!

11. Patriotic ice cream sandwich

Perhaps the easiest one of them all! All you need is pre-made ice cream sandwiches and sprinkles to make this simple, easy dessert.

So whether you're Martha Stewart or you don't know the first thing about baking a cake, all of these recipes are quick and easy enough for everybody to make. Be sure to share this with all of your crafty friends who would love to make creative treats for the Fourth, but may not have the time to do so. Have a great Independence Day!

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
