Now that we're all muddling our way through the limbo stage between high school and real adulthood, middle school seems like it was light years away. In fact, it was only about 6 or 7 years ago. That being said, it's pretty strange that the things we loved in middle school are no longer important to us. The websites, clothing trends and other things we worshipped are now lucky if they get a Twitter meme dedicated to them. Not to mention that the school work was a million times easier. In the midst of procrastinating the large pile of work I have yet to do, I've decided to take a trip down memory lane to count down all the awesome things we loved in middle school.

1. Gaucho Pants

AKA the original leggings. These pants paired with wedged tennis shoes were the LOOK.

2. Lip Smacker Lip Gloss

They came in about a million different flavors and they were amazing. Lip Smackers were the first makeup our parents let us wear and we wore it down to the last swipe.

3. Webkinz

Maybe you outgrew this in elementary school, or maybe you just want to seem cool and pretend you didn't play Webkinz until 8th-grade graduation. Either way, Webkinz was our first internet addiction before Twitter. Now the plush animals sell for pretty cheap which is annoying considering we had to beg our parents for just one.

4. Thick Headbands

No one really knew how to style their hair in middle school so these headbands were the go to when you were running late, or when you wanted to pull those awful side bangs out of your face.

5. Crocs

In my school Crocs got made fun of more than anything, but you'd be lying if you said you didn't have a pair hidden in your closet behind your Skechers.

6. Silly Bandz

Okay, these things took the WORLD by storm. These weird little animal and object shaped rubber bands were the only jewelry that mattered.

7. These enormous contraptions.

Looking back it was pretty economical to keep all of your class folders in one place so you never lost them. Towards the end of the school year they were ripped and not reusable because we let our friends write all over them.

8. The song "Bottoms Up" by Trey Songz and Nicki Minaj

If you didn't know the words to this song you were lost when it came on at the dance. Also who allowed this song to be played at a middle school dance?

9. Going to the mall to hangout.

Why did we do this? We didn't have any money back then so we'd just spend hours walking around.

10. Wearing Aeropostale.

If it didn't have Aero written across the chest you didn't even bother to look at it. This rule applied to Hollister and Abercrombie as well.

11. Over-editing literally every picture you ever took.

Picnik was the culprit for all of these embarrassing selfies and group photo edits.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
