As we approach the end of winter in Pittsburgh, thinking up creative date night ideas can become a bit of a challenge. The time for holiday attractions has long been over, but it is still too cold outside for picnics in the park or kayaking on the three rivers. But if you and your significant other are willing to go outside the box, there are many fun things to do until the weather gets warmer instead of always resorting to a night in with Netflix.

1. Get A Little Geeky At The Science Center

Full of fun, hands-on exhibits, you and your significant other will enjoy spending a day at this interactive Carnegie museum.

2. It's A Great Day (And A Great Date) For Hockey

Cheer on the Pittsburgh Pens together at the Consol Energy Center. Tickets can get a little pricey, so be sure to look into student rush tickets or discount apps such as Gametime.

3. Get A Little Competitive At Dave & Busters

Not only is it a great place to eat, drink, and watch sports, but at Dave & Busters you can get into a little friendly competition in their state of the art arcade.

4. Let Out Your Inner Rock Climber At The Climbing Wall

With over 14,000 square feet of climbing terrain, this is the perfect date for couples of any climbing skill.

5. Enjoy Some Cool Contemporary Art At The Mattress Factory

With environment-sized exhibits, the Mattress Factory is not your average museum. With completely immersive experience, this will be unlike any date you've had before.

6. Get A Little Cheesy And Build A Bear Together

Cheesy? Maybe. Adorable? Yes. Head to Build-A-Bear Workshop at one of the malls in the greater Pittsburgh area and make a bear that you can cuddle with when you can't be with your girlfriend or boyfriend.

7. Get Creative At Painting With A Twist

Let out your inner Picasso in a class led by local Pittsburgh artists. You'll create awesome decor for your place and added bonus: most locations solve alcohol or are BYOB, so you can paint while enjoying a bottle of wine.

8. Take A Walk On The Wild Side At The Pittsburgh Zoo

The zoo is open all year, so bundle up and spend an afternoon with your significant other looking at some of the cutest creatures in the 'burgh.

9. Jump Around At Sky Zone

Who doesn't love trampolines? You will have a blast and get a workout jumping around at this indoor park.

10. Go Bowling At Arsenal Lanes

Say good-bye to old-school boring bowling, and enjoy this night club atmosphere at Arsenal Lanes in Lawrenceville.

11. Have A Boat Load Of Fun On The Gateway Clipper

What could be more romantic than enjoying dinner or brunch as you cruise down the rivers of Pittsburgh?

So don't let the cold weather get you down, and explore some of the best places for date night in Pittsburgh!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
