"Rape is a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse or other forms of sexual penetration perpetrated against a person without that person's consent." Although the definition is cut and dry, it's hard for many to understand rape. The phrase "consensual sex" is used too often considering the invalidity; "consensual sex" should only be referred to as sex because without consent, it is not sex, it is rape. Misconceptions about rape are all to apparent in today's society, but here are 11 photos that prove that there are people who really do get it, and only wish that others will too.
1.
No amount of alcohol, television or skin showing justifies rape. There is no one to blame except the rapist themselves. The number one way to prevent rape is to NOT rape people.
2.
No matter what the situation, rape is never, ever the victims fault. Common misconceptions show that people actually blame this who were raped because of what they were wearing. Crazy, right?
3.
Crazy how to some, a normal, bodily function of females is less socially acceptable than forcing yourself upon someone. Periods should never be harder to talk about than rape.
4.
The reason people rape people can not be justified as "uncontrollable sexual desire." The reason people rape people is horrifying and should NEVER be made excusable.
5.
Nobody should be afraid for their lives because of who they are and the way they look. Teach people to not rape and women won't feel they need self defense when just walking through campus.
6.
Objectifying and sexualizing young girls with harsh dress codes only promotes rape culture. Again, teach people not to rape, not how to not get raped.
7.
It is such a simple concept that it's hard to understand why it needs to be taught. The only way to prevent rape from occurring is to not rape people. Everyone needs to know this from the time they are young.
8.
The word "no" has only one meaning. If someone says no to having sex with you, that should be respected 100% of the time.
9.
Without consent it's rape, not sex. (you can also buy these pins *~***cool***~*)
10.
Questioning someone who was raped why they were raped is never okay. Consoling and trying to help someone who has experienced rape is the only reaction we should have.
