Phobias: We're all scared of something and lets face it, college is scary enough as it is with all the stress, anxiety and trying to balance our life out perfectly. It's in our blood as college students to worry about passing that final while we turn up on the weekends. Fortunately, we are all in this together and aren't alone, because here are 11 fears that almost every college students experiences in their life.
1. The fear of missing out (FOMO).
When you go on Snapchat and see all your friends at that raging party you just found out about.
2. Fear of being forgotten (Athazagoraphobia).
Whether it's an ex or a close best friend you used to have, it scares you to think that they completely erased you from their life.
3. Fear of Failing (Atychiphobia).
There is no exception for failing a class, especially if you're trying to get your degree on time.
4. Fear of taking tests (Testophobia).
Test anxiety. Enough said.
5. Fear of being judged (Sociophobia).
Being in college, it can be hard to find people who accept you for who you are, so sometimes you hold back your true feelings or true self to avoid judgment.
6. Fear of public speaking (Glossophobia).
Speaking in front of a class of 30+ students, by yourself, is a total nightmare.
7. Fear of staying single forever (Anuptophobia).
You use all of the social dating apps just so you can avoid the thought of being forever alone.
8. Fear of being alone (Monophobia).
This can be common if you're an incoming freshman, because sometimes it's hard making friends when you're the new person in town.
9. Fear of being out of cell phone contact (Nomophobia).
I mean, can our generation really live without Snapchat and Instagram?
10. Fear of people talking about you, but stopped after you walked into the room (Antefamaphobia).
It's a pretty specific fear, but think about it—wouldn't you worry just a little as to why they stopped?
11. Fear of not getting a job after college.
This one doesn't have a precise name, but I think we can all relate to it once we graduate.
