Let's face it, cats are one of the best animals on this planet. I'm so lucky to have two of the coolest cats in the world. I'm even luckier because one of them weighs about 22 pounds! My cat, Apollo, is what most would consider a fat cat. However, owning a fat cat has more advantages than you'd expect.
1. Watching them waddle around.
Watching a fat cat walk anywhere is hilarious. Whether it's across the house or only a few feet, watching them waddle along to their destination is hilarious. Just imagine if a watermelon had legs and you'll get the picture.
2. Seeing them attempt to lie down gracefully.
Their attempts to be graceful as they lie down is completely foiled by their weight. No matter which way they do it, they always end up flopping onto their side, looking a lot like a turtle stuck on its back.
3. Joking about having to put a wide load sign on their butt.
When my cat sits down, all of his fat distributes to his butt. Since we've had this cat, my mom and I have joked about putting a sign on him that says "Wide Load" on it, like a large truck would. The image of our cat walking around with a big, yellow sign on its butt is one of the best things about having a fat cat.
4. Watching them try to fit themselves into small containers.
Cats trying to fit into too small containers will always be funny. But if that cat is fat, it makes it much funnier. Cats will believe that if they can fit a part of themselves into it, they obviously must be able to fit no matter what. Watching my cat try to fit in a small basket is one of my favorite things because I can't understand how he actually manages to fit in it.
5. Watching them try to get through cat doors.
You haven't owned a fat cat until you witness them struggle with getting through a too small door. Their endless trying to get through the door will make you pity them eventually and you'll end up buying a small dog door so they can have more comfort when trying to get through.
6. Their endless love for food.
My cat Apollo, pictured above, is the stereotype of a fat cat. He is huge, weighing in at roughly 22 pounds, and adores food. He will constantly beg for food and will annoy you if he thinks you have forgotten to feed him. Honestly, I've never seen a cat look longingly at macaroni and cheese before, but I wouldn't trade this cat for anything.
7. How they play with their toys.
Fat cats are just as playful as other cats. However, the amount of time that they'll play is severly limited. They get really tired extremely fast, even though they honestly don't move too much when playing. But it's pretty fun to watch them give their all for about 30 seconds.
8. Getting to constantly refer to them as "Garfield."
Garfield is the definition of a fat cat; he constantly eats and doesn't really do much. When you say you have a fat cat, the image of Garfield immediately pops into your mind since it's probably the most perfect comparison you have.
9. Seeing them struggle to clean or scratch themselves.
While it might seem a little mean to laugh at this, it's still pretty funny. When a cat is so fat that it can't reach it's head with it's back foot to scratch themselves or can't reach certain parts of their body with their tongue, it's pretty funny. However, this means a little extra work for you but it's so worth it.
10. Watching them hang their bellies out when they sit back on a couch.
11. There's even more of them to love, meaning they have more love to give.
Overall, owning a fat cat means that you just have more to love. You have an easier time cuddling them and giving them all the love you can. And, in return, they give you so much love through all of the shenanigans that they get into. I wouldn't trade my fat cat for anything and I'm so glad that I have that 22-pound lump in my life since he's brought so much joy to my life.
