11 Things All People Who Work With Customers Know To Be True

I don't control the prices, so I'm confused why you're complaining about them to me?

People who have never worked a job where they directly serve customers don't understand what it is like to be an employee that has to directly help customers. Working with customers can be extremely difficult, and while I love it, there are days when I have to ask myself why am I still working this job?

I love most of the customers I work with. They are great people, they are kind people, but every day I work with customers who treat me with disrespect, rudeness, and hostility. Now don't get me wrong I do love my job a lot but at times it can be extremely hard and tiring. The following is a list of 11 things people who work with customers know to be true.

1. Customers and (in general) people aren't always nice.

I thought this was a given: be nice to others because you don't know what they are going through.

2. Many customers will blame you for things that are completely out of your control.

Whether it's how long their food takes to cook, why there are no more medium pink sweaters, or whatever it may be, just because I'm the person giving you the news does not make it my fault. You complaining, blaming, or yelling at me does nothing.

3. Some customers will yell at you.

The first time you're yelled at is scary. I didn't know it was socially acceptable to yell at employees under any circumstances. I understand it can be frustrating, but there is never a reason to yell... a lesson I thought everyone learned in kindergarten.

4. Customers will complain about the prices because you are their "voice to corporate."

What they fail to realize is that corporate won't listen to me if I tell them that I think their prices are a tad too high. If you think the prices are too high then there is one simple solution. Don't buy it! It's that simple.

5. Customers often have no idea how things actually work, yet insist that they do.

6. When they ask to speak to your manager, and your manager literally tells them what you told them.

7. Those lovely customers that make your day 100 times better and make you actually like your job.

8. People will tell you way more than you ever needed to know.

I honestly don't know what to say about your aunt Suzy who just passed away or the divorce you're going through. It makes me a bit uncomfortable too!

9. Never having a dull day at work, especially when you need one.

10. Calling the cops becomes a regular thing.

The first couple of times you freak out because you're so nervous. Now it's like calling my grandma.

11. When you finally have one day with no drama and no rude customers!

This can be a rarity, so these types of days are worshiped and are the reason I keep coming back.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
