It is officially October, which means the Autumn season is in full swing with pumpkin inspired drinks and falling leaves. The month of October also means that Halloween is just around the corner. With the cooler Fall weather and warm comfort food, a movie marathon is a perfect way to spend the day. So here is a quick list of classic, spooky films that are a necessity to put you in the Halloween spirit!
1. "Hocus Pocus"
A trio of witches, the Sanderson sisters, invade the town of Salem, Massachusetts for a magical, song-filled night. A definite must watch film before Halloween.
2. "The Addams Family"
This film features a quirky cast of characters satirically playing on the idea of the perfect American family. Wednesday's witty remarks are a necessity this month.
3. "Casper"
This friendly ghost's adventures are a Halloween classic that should be re-watched every year.
4. "Addams Family Values"
Wednesday is back at it again; this time in summer camp in a hilarious sequel to the Halloween classic.
5. Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
This stop-motion dark fantasy film is a requirement this month as it's musical anthems are iconic for Halloween. With a few Christmas elements, this film is perfect to start the holiday season off right!
6. "ParaNorman"
Another October classic with quirky, stylized stop-motion characters who battle zombies in the classic comedy. Who doesn't love zombies this time of the year?
7. Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride"
Starring Johnny Depp, and Helena Bonham Cater in this stop-motion musical comedy that is another essential for any Tim Burton's fans this month.
8. Tim Burton's "Frankenweenie"
An adorable black and white stop-motion animation film that proves that dogs are adorable even when they come back from the dead.
9. "Matilda"
Yes, this film makes the list because a young child prodigy's magical powers in this classic story is a must-watch this month.
10. "Monster's Inc."
Not really a scary film, but definitely a Halloween regular because monsters are perfect for this month.
11. Harry Potter
Magical moments with wizards and witches make all eight of these series' films a must watch before October 31. Who doesn't want another Harry Potter marathon?
