It's Halloween season and excitement is in the air. Everyone is gathering up all their candy for the big night and figuring out what they want to dress up as this year. And while yes, when you head to your annual Halloween parties you'll see your fair share of firefighters and ghost costumes just like every other year, but here are some unique costume ideas from old Nickelodeon shows that may spark a brilliant new idea:

1. Spongebob Squarepants

The Krabby Patty fry cook is a staple for all '90s kids. Whether you grew up on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network, chances are you had your fair share of the talking yellow sponge when you were young. Throwing on the smiling face of Mr. Squarepants will give any trick-or-treater a nod of approval from their friends.

2. Arnold and Gerald from Hey Arnold!

"Football Head!!!!!' Dressing up as either one of these two characters from Hey Arnold will bring wonderful memories back for any '90s kid. The show, which in my opinion was one of the more underrated shows of the old Nickelodeon, is iconic for the appearance of the characters. Arnold's recognizable head and Gerald's flattop hair style would be a perfect costume duo with your best friend.

3. Contestants from Legends of the Hidden Temple

Arguably one of the best shows that was on Nickelodeon's game show channel, The Legends of the Temple captured the heart of many '90s kids. Whether you aligned yourself with the Blue Barracudas or the Silver Snakes, if you muster up a team shirt and a gold helmet, you will receive respect this Halloween.

4. Any Rugrats Character

Whether you decide to be Stu, Tommy Pickles, or even the evil Angelica, you can't go wrong with any Rugrats character. Like Spongebob, Rugrats appeals to everyone and is still even relevant today. And yes, even though you're not really a baby, you can pretend to be just for one night. And while each character has a distinctive look, you and your friend group can all dress as the children in order to complete the famous baby group.

5. Double Dare 2000 Contestant

One of the few trivia shows '90s Nickelodeon had to offer, the show was also one of many's favorites. Competing in challenges and answering questions, it didn't get better than that. And also, the slime. Were you really a kid in the '90s if you never had a dream of getting slimed? I'm willing to argue probably not...If you decide to be a contestant from Double Dare, you better know your trivia.

6. Nickelodeon GUTS Contestant

Were you even a '90s kid if you never had a dream of climbing and conquering the Aggro Crag mountain? I can admit personally, it was always a dream of mine to try and climb that treacherous mountain. And now this Halloween you can at least pretend like you did! Especially if you pick up a replica piece of "mountain stone" that can be found on the internet, it makes as the perfect prop while you show off your championship on GUTS.

7. Catdog

Definitely one of the stranger Nickelodeon shows, Catdog is recognized by many '90s kids. Because there is obviously cat and dog, this costume would be perfectly fit for you and your significant other, or even your brother or best friend.

8. Doug

Although I didn't watch much of Doug when I was a kid, I know many people did. With the symbolic Q on his chest, if you dress as Doug this Halloween I guarantee you'll get some high fives from the '90s kids for bringing back a lesser known Nickelodeon classic.

9. Jimmy Neutron

One of my favorite shows, Jimmy Neutron, can be and should be brought back to life this Halloween. This costume doesn't require much beside a t-shirt and a wig of the iconic Jimmy Neutron hair. Walk around yelling "Brain Blast" all night and you're sure to have the best costume of the night. And if you're really feeling crazy, dress your dog up like a robot and bring him around, pretending he's Goddard.

10. Fairly Odd Parents

If you're looking for a magical Halloween costume, being Cosmo or Wanda might be the right fit for you. Fairly Odd Parents is one of the greatest cartoons Nickelodeon ever hosted, and if you show up to your Halloween party dressed as a fairy, you will get respect, trust me. Of course, because Cosmo and Wanda are together, these costumes are best to go together with another person, and if you want, have another friend be Timmy, and you're all set.

11. Kenan & Kel in Good Burger Skit

Kenan and Kel were two of the biggest comedians '90s kids grew up with. All of the skits on their shows always drew laughs, and even their show before their own, "All That" was so funny. Round up a friend and grab a button down shirt, wig, and cook's hat and you can recreate one of Kenan and Kel's most famous skits, Good Burger. Oh, and when you're out and about on Halloween, just keep repeating, "welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger."

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
