A Studious Aesthetic

With 2019 quickly approaching, you're probably making goals for yourself this year. You're probably promising yourself that this will be the year you finally get your life together (ha, jokes) and you'll be the best student that you can be. Instead of making the goals and in the end failing yet again, here's a list of must-have supplies that will help you to stay organized. Having these supplies will help you to at least try and work towards your goal.

1. A bullet journal

Bullet journals have been popular lately for journaling purposes. Most use them for keeping track of their thoughts, but many also use them for studying. You can keep track of your assignments and meetings in a cute or fun way that helps you the best.

2. A planner

An alternative option from the bullet journal is just a regular planner. Bullet journals are used to keep your thoughts in as well and for you to write maybe helpful hints or whatever, but having a planner will also help you to keep track of your assignments and meetings.

3. Adhesive page markers

These little tabs will help you to remember where important notes are.

4. Headphones

You're going to need these to focus. If you listen to music while studying, then don't forget your headphones. When the people around you are getting a bit too loud, you'll fortunately have your earbuds to plug in and help you to focus on your studies rather than what's going on around you.

5. A flash drive

Always, always, always keep a flash drive. Back up all of your important files on these. They'll help to make sure that you never lose your assignments and instead of carrying around too many notebooks, you can keep your notes on them.

6. Binders

Keep important hard copy notes in a binder. You can divide the notes easily using page dividers and all of your important notes will be held in one place, besides on a flash drive or your laptop.

Buy them on Amazon.

7. Citation style manuals

College is confusing because some professors require APA style while others will allow you to use MLA style. If you've never used one of them, you'll obviously have a hard time trying to figure out how to use it on your own. Luckily, there are handbooks that guide you through the steps of using these different citation styles.

8. Highlighters

Highlighters are one of the best inventions ever. Reading whole paragraphs can be boring or tiring, and you may forget what you read or even have to repeat what you read several times. Highlighting the most important notes will help you to focus and keep from dozing off.

9. Index cards

When studying for tests, flash cards are one of the most efficient studying tools. You can use them to quiz yourself and learn the materials easily.

10. Timer

You should use a timer because it'll help with your studying time management. If you're easily distracted during studying and you never study as long as you should because you get bored, a timer could help solve that issue. Set it to twenty minutes or so and then take a five minute break after each time period. I suggest not using one on your phone so that you're not distracted and try to check your phone constantly, but whatever works best for you is your choice.

11. Dictionary

Yeah, having a dictionary probably wasn't something you were thinking about, but having one might be a good idea. In case there's a word you don't know in your notes, having a dictionary would be handy to easily look up the word. Yeah, you could do that with a phone as well, but like I said before, using your phone might distract you more rather than help.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
