Some call it the Bayou City, some the Space City.

Others call it the Energy Capital of the World; Beyoncé calls it H-town.

I call it home.

I'm a proud Houstonian just trying to put my city on the map, and have it recognized by people all over the world. I know for a fact my city is full of never-ending adventures, so I figured I would recommend one of my favorite ways to spend my time in this beautiful city.

Looking for the perfect thing to do in Houston this summer? Balling on a budget? Your answer is simple: mural hunting. All you do is grab some friends and a camera, and hit the road. The following are some of the best (in my opinion) murals in Houston.

1. "Biscuit Paint Wall" by Sebastien Boileau (aka "Mr. D")

Address: 1435 Westheimer Road., Houston, Texas 77006

This is one of the most widely known murals in Houston. Parking is easily accessible by the side of the street and in parking lots during business hours.

Best times for shooting: Sunday mornings or early in the mornings during weekdays. Feel free to browse Biscuit Home while you are there. It's a beautiful home goods store.

2. Sugar and Cloth Color Wall

Address: 3302 Canal St., Houston, TX 77003

This mural is a recent addition to the Houston mural scene. Parking is available on the side by the gas station or in front of the wall.

Best times for shooting: Early and late evenings before the sun goes down, or during cloudy/overcast days.

3. "About Rocks" by Russell Etchen

Address: Lawndale Art Center, 4912 Main St., Houston, TX 77002

Parking is available on site, but there might be some indigents asking for spare change.

Best time for shooting: Time is flexible; it can be worked out at different times of the day, from morning to early evening, depending on how you like the light in your images.

4. "Lady, Fox and Bear" Mural by Michael Rodriguez

Address: Winter Street Studios, 2101 Winter St., Houston TX 77007

The mural is on the back of Winter Street Studios, so parking is ample and easy, though the area may seem a bit desolate at times.

Best time for shooting: Late afternoons and early evenings.

5. Dogwood Flowers Wall

Address: The Dogwood, 2403 Bagby St., Houston, TX 77006

Parking is available on the street near the bar, and at a shopping center adjacent to the bar.

Best time for shooting: Early mornings when the restaurant is closed. Be aware you'll have to get creative with angles, as there are trees and greenery in front of the wall.

6. Teal Zig Zag Wall

Address: The parking lot of Pavement Clothing, 1657 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX 77098

Best time for shooting: You will have to go there early in the mornings, as this wall is on the parking lot of a store. Hence, cars are usually parked and blocking the mural.

A big plus: The Rainbow Pride Wall is on that same parking lot!

7. Houston Pride Wall

Address: The parking lot of Pavement Clothing, 1657 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX 77098

Best time for shooting: Like the Teal Zig Zag Wall, you will need to get there early as the wall is on the parking lot of a store.

8. The Secret Group's Black and White Wall

Address: 2101 Polk St., Houston, TX 77003

There is very limited parking street side, so leave your hazard lights on, if need be.

Best times for shooting: You can take pictures there at different times during the day. Since the wall goes around the corner, light works day round.

9. "Geometric Shapes" mural by Bryan Cope and Dustin North

Address: 1503 Chartres St., Houston, TX 77003

Produced by Hue Mural Festival @huemuralfest. Free public parking is available around the Houston Graffiti Building.

Best times for shooting: Mornings work great for this wall, however you might find it good to take pictures throughout the day.

10. "Blue graphic circles and zipper" mural by @circlesbyanita

Address: 2207 Winter St., Houston, TX 77007

Produced by @artsdistricthou. Area is usually lonely, but always seems fairly safe as it is surrounded by art galleries and studios. Parking is available close to the mural in front of the building and by the sides.

Best times for shooting: Any time of day would work for this mural because it gets shade or indirect light throughout the day.

11. "Pink Door Planet Curls" by @planetcurls

Address: 6518 N Main St., Houston, TX 77009

Last but not least, is not only a mural, but an art piece as well. Plenty of parking is available behind the Planet Curls beauty salon. While you take pictures in front of the awesome pink door, beware of the oncoming traffic on busy Main Street.

Best times for shooting: Mornings or late afternoons would be best for photographing.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
