Growing up, I was lucky enough to be raised by a mom who wasn't afraid to laugh. My God Mother was the same and also contributed to my upbringing. Together, the two of them introduced me to a world of humor that can get me into trouble if I'm not careful. We laugh at things that normal people probably wouldn't find funny. Lucky for us, there are others who understand our twisted senses of humor and were kind enough to make movies just for the twisted humored population. These movies are not for the faint of heart or easily offended, and most of them are quite possibly some of the greatest movies every produced.
1. Cruel Intensions (1999)
This movie is diabolic in all the best ways. Annette, played by the young Reese Witherspoon, is the unattainable virgin that Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe) has decided to bet his step sister he can get to give it up. Kathryn (Sarah Michelle Gellar) has promised that if he does, there will be a very big prize: her. But there are also other dark scenarios throughout the movie that are sure to have you laughing and wanting more.
2. Heathers (1988)
Winona Rider kills it in this 80's cult classic- literally. Three horrible girls named Heather get exactly what's coming to them in the most hilarious of ways. The teen angst never dulls and constantly creates the darkest situations that you can't get enough of.
3. Jawbreakers (1999)
Loosely based on Heathers, Jawbreakers is about a group of popular high school girls who accidentally murder one of their friends- on her birthday. Instead of mourning her death or even going to the police, the girls decide to give one of the school nerds a complete makeover to take their dead friend's place. Classy, right?
4. Beetlejuice (1988)
After a young couple trying for a baby dies in a tragic car accident, they find themselves stuck in the bizarre world of death. They decide to get the help of a dead guy named Beetlejuice when their house is sold to a dreadful couple from the city. What ensues is a lot of dark and gross humor that's bound to have you rolling.
5. Edward Scissorhands (1990)
An artificial man with scissors as hands gives bored housewives and their dogs new hairstyles. If that isn't enough to laugh at, just wait until you see the hairstyles.
6. Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)
Fast Times isn't necessarily all that dark and twisted but it's still funny in the best ways. Stacy is the main character, but Jeff's storyline is the where the real humor is. Yes, that is a bagel in his pants.
7. Raising Arizona (1987)
A former cop and a former convict fall in love and get married. If that isn't weird enough, they also kidnap a kid when they can't have one of their own. Don't worry, it's not in a Criminal Minds kind of a scenario. You're going to laugh until you cry.
8. Fight Club (1999)
A man finds himself bored and depressed with his mundane life until he meets a bizarre soap salesman. The two of them create a club for other bored men to get together and beat each other to a pulp- for no reason. There are enough twisted one liners in this movie to satisfy you for a month.
9. Mommie Dearest (1981)
Most people wouldn't find this biographical movie funny, but if you watch it without being too invested then it's hysterical. The bad acting alone is worth watching this one. Not to mention the dark meltdowns over unimportant issues is just too much not to laugh uncontrollably.
10. Masterminds (2016)
Based on a 1997 heist of Loomis Fargo by one of the employees, the opening scene of the movie is going to have you laughing until you pass out. The fact that Zach Galifianakis is the star makes it even better.
11. Austin Powers (1997, 1999, 2002)
The word "shag" is used in this trilogy too many times to count. And what could be better than Mike Myers exchanging weird banter with Mike Myers? He plays several characters in the movies, and hearing him argue with himself is definitely worth seeing.
