It's that dreaded time of year again -- finals week. In the moment, it might feel like we won't get through it, but somehow we always do. It is very easy to get overwhelmed with studying all the material you have learned all semester for multiple classes, but staying calm is super important for your mind and overall well-being. An important thing to do during finals week is to remember that there is a beautiful light at the end of the tunnel- a long and fun summer with all your friends at home!

1. Take a walk or a run!

Getting some fresh air while exercising can have so many physical and mental benefits.

2. Eat something healthy.

It's easy to get caught up in assignments and studying that you forget to eat, but your brain needs energy. According to WebMD, some of the best foods that help with brain function, health and memory are blueberries, salmon, nuts and seeds, and of course, the trendiest food right now- avocados! Making yourself a quick avocado toast snack in the morning can really help jump start your day of studying!

3. Eat something unhealthy.

Because your brain needs a sugar rush too?

4. Start packing!

So you can high-tail it as soon as you're done.

5. Enjoy some Netflix.

Friends, New Girl, The Office, whatever floats your boat.

6. Call someone you miss.

It will make you happy and them happy!

7. Order a new bathing suit online!

This is (mostly) productive, as you are getting yourself pumped for Summer, and this boosts your mood, which will make you happier when studying. It's a win-win!

8. Go find a dog and hang out with him/her.

Who doesn't enjoy some friendly dog bonding? This will reduce your stress too!

9. Color a pretty picture!

It's the new trend, and you can bring a picture home for your mom to put on the fridge.

10. Shower.

You might not even smell, but it will probably wake you up for some more studying! Plus, the people sitting beside you in the library will thank you.

11. Take a nap.

The most obvious thing to do, but the National Sleep Foundation says that taking a 20-30 minute nap can boost your mood and improve alertness and performance, all important things during finals week. Don't be afraid to take a quick snooze to get some more brain power.

If you don't take any breaks during your studying, you will most likely not retain any information! So, taking breaks while doing productive things that will help your brain is your best option. Good luck with finals!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
