If you are not caught up with ABC"s show Once Upon A Time, DO NOT read ahead. WARNING! Spoilers ahead!
I am so excited that our favorite fantasy filled TV show has graced our Sunday nights once more. Once Upon A Time is back and I can't be the only one who's ready for the magic to begin again. Although fans are disappointed by last season due to Robin's devastating death, this season is going to be full of redemption. In this premiere, we were introduced to several exciting storylines that have the potential to ease the pain of our loss.
1. Arabian Nights
We got a wonderful introduction to the world of Aladdin. Can we take a moment though to note how scary Aladdin looked? He was so weak and definitely didn't fit our description of the handsome and witty street rat. It was also revealed that he was a previous savior and his weakness was due to the burden of being a savior. In a chilling confrontation with Jafar, the viewers realize that saviors only help others get their happy endings, they don't get their own. Uh oh...
2. Back in Storybrooke
In the finale, Rumple gave control of the town to Dr. Hyde. That was not the best idea because along with Hyde came some of his friends. These characters all have untold stories and I'm assuming they're going to complete them no matter what comes in their way. Storybrooke better watch out for this group of gypsies.
3. Team Snow Charming
This classic couple is never given too much importance on the show since their story was pretty much wrapped up in season one, but it can't hurt to mention this kick-ass duo. They did a pretty great job hunting down the new company and welcoming them to their town. This married couple has such a warm and friendly atmosphere that by the end of the episode, the strangers openly came in to seek help from the people of Storybrooke.
4. #CaptainSwan
This is one of the main reasons I watch the show. This iconic couple was so close to taking the next step in their relationship, a moment fans have been eagerly waiting for, but were interrupted due to the arrival of their new guests. The episode ended with "Captain Swan" in a difficult place. Emma has once again put up her defensive walls and won't let Hook in on what may really be happening to her.
5. Evil is back
Our naive little hearts believed that the Evil Queen was killed by Regina back in the finale. Well, we were wrong. I have to admit though that I am very excited to have this character back on the show. Whenever the Evil Queen has been on the show, it makes it even more sinister and since Rumple is too busy pining after his sleeping beauty, it is safe to say we are all missing our dosage of evil on this show.
6. Zelena + Evil Queen= Definite Trouble
At the end of the episode we see the Evil Queen and Zelena sitting down for a drink. Zelena is on the outs with Regina right now and we all know her go to technique is revenge. I'm excited to see what trouble these two are going to stir up for Regina. More importantly, how will Zelena have time to take care of her daughter while she is plotting her sister's end?
7. Beauty and the Broken-hearted Beast
Viewers were given some closure on the Rumple and Belle story line. Through an emotional dream world, Rumple finally managed to waken Belle, who is with child. Rumple is so close to getting Belle to fall in love with him again when their son convinces her to stay away from Rumple and his selfish needs. Yes that's right, Belle and Rumple's kid gave Belle advice. Since Rumple needed to sprinkle magic sand on Belle to enter her dream world, he also entered his son's dream world. Long story short Rumpbelle may be over for a while and they have a long road to recovery ahead of them.
8. Hyde locked up?
In one of the less featured moments of the premiere, Hyde was outsmarted and locked away in the infamous Storybrooke jail. Although, our heroine Emma and Hyde and a sort of emotional moment. Hyde is suspiciously helping Emma in her time of need, but is Hyde trying to work an angle here?
9. Regina and Mary Margaret
It's easy to see that Mary Margaret has a motherly nature. Almost every character on this show has come to her for advice, everyone except for Regina. This duo has had a complicated relationship. It's hard to tell whether they are fond of each other. There seems to be everlasting bad blood between the two. However, in this episode viewers got to watch a nice dynamic change in this relationship. These two characters had a nice talk through about their past and walked off happily to Granny's like best friends. I really hope this blooming friendship lasts.
10. All my independent women let me see you
The story line that I am most excited to watch is Regina's. She has a tough season ahead of her after the death of her one true love, Robin. But based on the premiere, she has been handling herself well. She now has the time to become her own person without a man and without the evil alter ego in her soul. I hope she can take some time away from saving the fairy tale population long enough to discover herself.
11. Emma's not-so-happily ever after
Emma had several issues during the episode. Throughout the episode her hands were having their own seizures. She spends the whole episode trying to find put why this might be happening. An oracle in the forest shows her a prophecy clearly depicting Emma's death. She also warns Emma that there is no way to reach a different destination in her future, only the path could be different. So what does this mean for our savior?
