Molly Kate Kestner

In 2014 you probably watched the viral video of Molly Kate Kestner singing her original song, "His Daughter," and you probably cried. However, if you haven't kept up with this young singer/songwriter on YouTube, you might not be up to date on all the songs she's written since her breakthrough hit. While this 21 year old girl from Minnesota may have the voice of an angel, she also has an incredible gift for songwriting. Her songs have helped people all over the world get through the even the hardest of times. The odds are, a Molly Kate Kestner song is just what you need for whatever you're struggling with right now.

1. For when you feel like giving up: His Daughter

Although this isn't technically her first song on YouTube, it's the song that first grabbed mine and attention over 15 million others' attention. This song tells the story of a girl who's faced a lifetime of hardships and abuse and wonders if God is out there. It's an absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful song that gives everyone a little bit of hope that things can still get better.

2. For when you're grieving the loss of someone special: How

I end up crying my eyes out every time I listen to this song. This song is about the feeling of loneliness and hopelessness that comes with losing a loved one, as she sings, "How do I simply say goodbye to the greatest thing I've ever called mine?" She explains in the video that she wants this song to provide comfort to those grieving and remind them that there is hope to see them again one day.

3. For those suffering with mental illness: Harder to Breathe

This song is for anyone suffering from depression, anxiety, an eating disorder, or suicidal thoughts, and Molly Kate Kestner reminds you that you can ask for help as she sings, "Listen to me, I know it's getting harder to breathe, but things aren't always dark as they seem, it gets better." The song tells the story of a beautiful girl who appears to be perfect, but she has an eating disorder, and a boy who looks like he has it all together, but his depression is giving him suicidal thoughts. This song is probably one of my favorite Molly Kate Kestner because everyone has moments when it's "harder to breathe." She provides hope to everyone who feels like giving up.

4. When you're stuck in the friend-zone: See Me

Molly Kate Kestner says that there are too many songs about love, but not enough about being stuck in the friend-zone. She sings about falling in love with a guy who sees her as just a friend, and she sings,"I wanna break the walls that you put around yourself, cuz the damage that you caused put your heart up on the shelf. And I wanna show you how it feels to love again, and I'm looking at you now, but you think I'm just a friend." I think most people can relate to this because everyone's been in the friend-zone at least once in their life or fallen for someone who doesn't want a relationship.

5. For those battling Cancer and their loved ones: Just Breathe

Molly Kate Kestner explains that she wrote this song for her cousin who died from Cancer, but she also dedicates it to everyone whose life has been impacted by Cancer. Much like "How," this song provides comfort to the grieving.

6. When someone toxic leaves your life: Damage

Although this song is about the end of a toxic relationship ending, I think it also works for the end of a toxic friendship. It's about a toxic person who has finally left, but they left so much damage behind. She sings, "I don't wish that I was with you cuz I'm happy, so are you. But I'd be lying if I tried to say that I don't miss you." It's about the pain that you're left with when you put so much effort into a relationship or friendship and then they stopped caring about you.

7. When you first get feelings for someone: Be Mine

She says that this song is about realizing the potential for love in a friendship. The song has a very Ingrid Michaelson feel and describes falling for someone who's been right next to you all this time.

8. When you're bullied: No One Ever Told You

This song is for anyone who has ever been bullied. Bullying is awful and it's so present both in real life and online, but Molly Kate Kestner reminds you that "You can't see the glow in your smile, you don't know the power in your words. You've never felt the fire in your heart, you don't know because no one's ever told you."

9. When you're falling in love and scared: Undone

This song is about both the magic and the scariness of falling in love. She explains that sometimes when we fall in love we say things that we don't mean because we're scared of our feelings. At the end of the day, she sings about coming undone when she looks at that special person.

10. For when someone dies too young: Good Die Young

Molly Kate Kestner wrote this song when Prince died unexpectedly and she wrote this song to inspire others to live their life to the fullest and never take it for granted. She sings, "Sometimes I only see what's standing right in front of me... can't always see the bigger picture. Can you tell me why the good die young?"

11. For those hiding their pain: Prom Queen

This is Molly Kate Kestner's newest song and let me tell you, I'm obsessed. This extremely hauntingly beautiful song is Lana Del Rey-esque and tells the story of a prom queen who is gorgeous and popular, but secretly has a hard life. In an interview with Galore, she explains that this song was inspired by a dark time in her own life when she hid her pain and everyone just saw her as a pretty girl. She says in the same interview that "the moral of the song is to just not make quick judgments about people you don’t really know because we all have our own struggles and we all have our demons. And the prom queen doesn’t just represent the popular kid in high school. To me, she’s a symbol of anyone who has ever lost themselves in a label people have placed on them."

There are certainly more songs where this came from, so I encourage you to go check out her YouTube channel because her songs are probably going to blow up soon, especially with her newest single that was just released. It's not very often that someone writes stunning songs about very real pain and emotions that so many people can relate to, so she's definitely something special. Pretty much all her videos are flooded with comments telling her how her songs have helped them in their darkest times, and I think everyone could benefit from one or two (or all) Molly Kate Kestner songs.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
