Everyone's heard of the official love languages and, chances are, you've probably taken the test and realized just how scary accurate they are. Whether you're a quality time, physical touch, gifts, acts of service, or words of affirmation person, there are other things out there that we joke about being our love languages. And we may be joking, but really, some of these should become official love languages. Which one's yours?
1. Flowers
Coming home to a surprise bouquet of flowers will earn someone a million hugs and 4,000 thank you's. You absolutely adore the pop of color a fresh bunch of flowers brings to your space. It doesn't matter to you if they die within a week; if this is your love language, there's nothing more endearing than being sent a surprise handful of daisies or sunflowers.
2. Donuts
Donuts for breakfast? Yes. Donuts for lunch? Yes. Donuts for dinner? Yes. They may just be a food, but to you, they're more than that.
3. Coffee
Any kind, all day. Chances are you can't go a day without it. You've tried them all and have found your perfect combination of coffee, espresso, milk, or sugar that makes up this love language of yours. And you definitely have your favorite coffee shop with the perfect atmosphere (and the perfect aesthetic for all your Instagram endeavors).
4. Sunrises
For the few who prefer mornings, there's something about the sky transitioning from complete darkness to a firepit of colors that will never stop making you short of breath. You know exactly where to go to watch sunrises, and you know exactly when to get there.
5. Sunsets
For those who prefer their sleep, sunsets are probably your favorite component of nature. Again, you know exactly where to go and exactly when to get to your spot for prime sunset-watching. This love language means sunsets are your best source of refreshment, and you're beyond thankful they happen every day.
6. Concerts
No matter the genre, no matter if it's a school night. If this is your love language, seeing a band live isn't something you take lightly. The majority of your earned money is probably spent on tickets and as you've attended more and more, you know exactly how to prepare. You've been to more venues than you originally knew existed, but you still have your all-time favorites. You've probably kept all of your ticket stubs and have camped out for a band more than once, too. And you've heard the words, "You go to so many concerts," more times than you can count.
7. Puppies
Any breed. Give me them all. You'd much rather have a puppy than a child or a boyfriend, if you're being honest. They never leave your side, and they love you through the good times and the bad. It's not hard to have puppies as a love language.
8. Road trips
If road trips are your love language, you're probably the most spontaneous of your friends. You don't need a perfect plan; you just need a pal, a destination, and some good music. You feed off the freedom that comes with road trips and the possibility to go anywhere at any time.
9. Star-gazing
If star-gazing leaves you speechless, you're probably a night owl and you probably live far away from a city. And if you do live in a city, you ache when you look up to the sky and see...nothing. You'll drive anywhere it takes to see some twinkling lights up there, as long as you have some blankets and a friend with you.
10. Picnics
Why eat at a dining table when you can eat on a blanket outside? If picnics are your love language, you enjoy simple acts of spontaneity and being outside. It doesn't have to include chocolate covered strawberries and champagne; if someone packs a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with some juice boxes, you'll still be overjoyed.
11. Bookshops
They're becoming few and far between, but you could spend hours at every bookstore you pass by. (And most people hope you do pass by so they don't get stuck there with you.) Old or new, you love the smell, you love the atmosphere, and you love the feel of hundreds of novels passing between your fingers as you find your new favorite book.
