While growing up, learning the true meaning of life is important. Life lessons are something that are essential in order to make it in the world. I'm very thankful for parents that showed me every Disney movie I could imagine. While I was dressing up like the Belle, singing along with Sebastian, I also was learning so many important things from those motion pictures. These are the top eleven Disney movies that taught me a little something about life.

1. Pocahontas

I will admit I didn't live in the woods like Pocahontas did, but she taught me to always listen to my heart. She taught me that it's important to be able to accept difference, and sometimes I will have to walk in other's shoes to understand.

2. Beauty and the Beast

Belle taught me at a young age that true beauty isn't what is on the outside; the true beauty of someone can be found in their heart. She also showed me how important it into treat others the way I want to be treated.

3. The Little Mermaid

Yes, I definitely wish Ariel would have taught me how to be a mermaid, but we don't always get what we want. One thing she did teach me though was that in the end true love will always conquer all. She also showed me that it's important to ALWAYS remember where I come from.

4. Lady and the Tramp

First thing these cute dogs taught me was how to "Lady and the Tramp" spaghetti. On a serious note though these two little furry creatures definitely taught me to always keep moving forward in life and to always try new things.

5. Tarzan

Jane and Tarzan taught me one of the most important lessons that should be taught. I learned that no matter where we are from or what we look like we aren’t all that different on the inside.

6. Mulan

Mulan taught me as a little girl that I will always be strong and capable; she taught me how important it is to be myself no matter what anyone thinks of me.

7. Hercules

Leave it to the Meg and Herc to have taught me that just because someone’s life looks perfect doesn’t mean that it is. I also learned that popularity isn’t everything.

8. Dumbo

Even the little elephant with the big ears taught me something very important as a child. I learned that it's okay to be different because it makes me who I am.

9. Lilo and Stitch

Right now I'm pretty sure everyone can agree with me on the fact that this dynamic duo taught everyone that family isn’t always defined by blood. Family is someone who loves and accepts you.

10. Princess and the Frog

Tiana taught me that wishing isn’t good enough despite what the famous song "Wish Upon A Star" may tell us. I learned that I have to work hard for my dreams to come to true.

11. A Bug’s Life

Yes ants can teach life lessons too. Between Flik, Dot, and the rest of the ant colony, they taught me that together, anyone can achieve even the greatest of goals. Because of Flik and Dot, and yes even the scary grasshopper, Hopper, I learned how important it is to speak up and to never just stay quiet.

Thank you Walt Disney Studios for not only creating wonderful motion pictures for us to watch as entertainment, but for creating movies that teach us a little something about life as well.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
