Our habits form us into who we are. Making a conscious effort to notice and assess our habits is essential to thriving. The more we continue to habitually do something, the better we become at it. Whether it may be for the better or for the worse. This goes for playing an instrument, a sport, cooking, or any type of hobby or daily activity.

It's easy to identify what kind of habits we want to have in our lives but the tricky part is keeping up with them and distinguishing which habits are actually doing us harm rather than good.

Here are some daily habits to hone in on...

1. Be OK with saying no

We all can sometimes get too caught up with always saying yes to other people because of either having FOMO or maybe you're a fellow people please like I so am. Start by saying no and cutting back a little.

"You can do anything but not everything."

2. Give yourself words of affirmations (no, it's not weird to talk to yourself)

You is smart

Whether that may be a mantra or something you say to yourself in prayer, be consistent with granting yourself with kind words. Even if you may not believe those words at that moment, speak it into existence.

3. Wake up earlier for yo me time

This is something I struggle with, I am in a very committed relationship with my bed. Although I notice when I wake up just a tad bit earlier each day, I go throughout my day feeling more refreshed and I can conquer the world after I've spent 20 minutes reading my favorite book or listening to my favorite tunes before I head out the door.

Me time is the best time, am I right or am I right?

4. Give an unlimited amount of genuine compliments to yourself and others

When you see someone wearing a shirt that you like, tell him. If someone has done something nice for you, say thank you. When you look in the mirror, name things you like about yourself.

There's no such thing as giving too many compliments to someone or yourself. Think of how you feel when someone compliments you and how it boosts your mood from 0 to 100. Be the light in someones day and someone in return will be the light of yours. That's just how the universe works.

5. Put down your phone and pick up a book

Knowledge is power and will always be. The best way to grow intellectually is to read, read, read.

6. Hydrate, hydrate, repeat

Water leaves your skin glowing and it is essential to survive. Yes, it may be cliche, and you may see this in all other blog posts, but drinking water is vital to your health. Replace soda with water and you'll begin to feel better energy wise and health wise.

7. Be relentlessly optimistic

Don't let anyone kill your vibe. Be the light no matter who or what is trying to pull you down or is coming in the way of your happiness.

8. Be an action taker and step outside your comfort zone

When we step outside our comfort zone that is where you will see the most growth within yourself. Take a little walk on the wild side time after time.

9. Find something you love to get your body moving

Find healthy outlets to keep you in motion

10. Avoid and be conscious of negative self-talk

We are our own worst critics, be conscious of the words you are filling your head with and replace them with good-feeling thoughts.

11. Keep and follow through with promises you make with yourself

Integrity is major key. We never want to let down our friends so why do we settle for letting down ourselves? Whether that's not going to the gym like you wanted to or following through with other commitments you made with yourself. A lot of times we say we don't have "enough time", but that is not true.

Make the time for yourself, it's there. We make time for the things that matter to us the most.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
