This week our hearts were struck with the news of the passing of one of the greatest 20th century authors, Harper Lee. Her first novel, "To Kill a Mockingbird," was one of the most revolutionary pieces on race during her time, and is still read in classrooms across the world. "To Kill a Mockingbird"has a lot more to offer us than what we may have learned in the classroom. Lee's brilliant one liners about life, such as "Real courage is when you know you’re licked before you begin. You begin anyway, and see it through no matter what," continue to guide us even today, over 50 years after "To Kill a Mockingbird's" original publication.
