11 Ideas On What To Get Yourself This Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is upon us, which means one of two things: We are either going to spend it alone again this year or we are going to spend it with someone special. Either way, each option has the same common factor— ourselves! While we spend so much time thinking about others, we often forget that we, as in you reading this, matter as well. So this year I recommend you forget about everyone else and treat yourself for Valentine’s Day. Don’t wait for someone to do it for you; believe me, nobody knows you, better then you! However, if you need some fun ideas on what you could get yourself for this special holiday just keep reading!

1. A record player! Because nothing says, “I don’t need a man… or woman” like technology that was popular in the '60s.

2. A mug that describes your actual thoughts on Valentine’s Day.

3. New undergarments… need I say more?

4. Pretentious bottle of wine because we’re going to be that annoying human this year.

5. A new shirt because everyone needs a new shirt.

6. A phone case.

7. A new book (specifically this one).

8. Handicorn Finger Puppet Set. No reason— you just need it.

9. A drone because…you know, why not?

10. A polaroid camera -- nothing says I had fun this Valentine’s Day like a printed picture of proof for Instagram.

11. And last but not least, food.

Now go on and treat yo' self!

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
