Now, whether you are from Redding, Nor Cal, South Cal, or even somewhere else - I hope this guide inspires you to get out and explore your area well!

I have been living in Redding for 2 school years now. After starting school, I soon realized just how much I needed to get outside on the weekends in order to breathe and be able to do school well. So, since my freshman year, I have almost spent ALL of my weekends outside, rain or shine. Here are my top 11 that are my usual 'go to's'

11 Hikes To Go On When In Nor Cal

1. Burney Falls

Burney Falls has been featured in books and articles world wide. Seeing these spectacular falls is especially life changing.

2. Whiskey Town Falls

Hiking this classic at Whiskey Town will only create more wonderful memories with the people you love.

3. Mossbrae Falls

This panoramic waterfall is something everyone should experience once!

4. Potem Falls

Something super spectacular about this waterfall. It is a short easy hike, and fills all your waterfall needs.

5. Lassen

If you are looking for a hike that maybe doesn't lead to a waterfall, this one is a must. The hike is rewarded at the tippy top of Mount Lassen with views that are breath taking.

6. Hot Springs

Looking for something a bit more relaxing on your body while still in nature? Look no more, hot springs may be your new favorite way to relax.

7. Hatchet Falls

This fall is an iconic swimming hole for the hot months. Yet, it proves to be just as beautiful whatever time of year you go.

8. Trinity Alps

Looking for something a little more secluded? Definitely try out a Trinity Alps trail - perfect for a one night backpacking excursion.

9. Hedge Creek Falls

If you are planning on heading to Mossbrae falls, this one is a must too! Both waterfalls are right by each other and are both great day hike plans.

10. Phantom Falls

This waterfall, if it hasn't already, WILL change your life. Make sure to go during the winter and spring months. (because the waterfall disappears other months, hence the name "phantom")

11. Castle Crags

Last but NOT least, Castle Crags state park. A beloved favorite to anybody who has gone.

I hope this post inspires you to explore more! If you are in Nor Cal, check these out! Maybe make it a bucket list to finish all of these! - Adventure on!

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
