Southern Roots

Whether you’re tired of cooking, sick of the dining plan, or just need a trip outside of the bubble… here’s a list of 11 local restaurants that you need to check out before you graduate.

Cookout

No matter the time of day, Cookout is always there for you. They have over 40 milkshake flavors, TWO drive thrus, and plenty of cheap fried food… what more could a college student ask for?

Blue Rock Pizza & Tab

Blue Rock is all you’ve ever wished for in pizza, and more. With friendly staff and a lively atmosphere, this is the place to be for a twist on traditional pizza. To top it all of, their prices won’t break the bank.

Penny Path

Oh crêpe. Hidden among the furniture stores, this place is definitely a diamond in the rough. Whether you’re in the mood for sweet or savory, their crepes make up for the minimal seating.

Gianno’s

Italian food is always a good choice, especially with Gianno's Create Your Own pasta dish. Their bread is also out of this world. Not to mention, they offer a pizza and salad buffet during lunchtime. But most importantly, you’ll have leftovers for days.

La Hacienda

Affectionately known as “La Has”, this is the place to be for complimentary chips and salsa. Their two dollar tacos will change your life. And for those of you who are blessed with legality, go for the margaritas.

Southern Roots

If you’re looking for home-style southern comfort food with a touch of class, this is the place for you. Southern Roots also offers many eclectic healthy options. I promise you won’t regret the drive.

Sake

This one’s pretty self-explanatory. If C-Store sushi just isn't making the cut anymore, Sake has dozens of sushi options only and is only two minutes from campus. If you're 21, don't miss out on their Sake bombs. Though its a little bit further, Taste of Asia is another good option for sushi (and they have fun tables).

Carolina’s Diner

A cheap buy for all your breakfast needs. Their menu is massive and it's also a passport partner! Starting your day with Carolina’s is a guarantee that the rest of your day will be fantastic.

Barberitos

You can’t buy happiness. But you can buy queso, and that’s kind of the same thing. Some even argue that their burritos are even better than Chipotle, but that’s up for you to decide.

Krispy Kreme

Treat yourself to this southern classic - calories don’t count at Krispy Kreme. If you’re feeling dedicated enough, call before going to find out when they are bringing out a fresh batch.

Domino’s

Last but definitely not least. Domino's is the best of both worlds - off campus food without even having to leave your house. And let's be honest, no late night is complete without ordering a pizza for delivery.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.
