Whether you live in the windy city of Chicago or near the Great Lakes, in Canada, or simply the quaint and quiet mountains of northern Georgia, we all need to prepare for winter the best way we know how--for me, that would be with clothes. Being from Pennsylvania, I am used to the cold, snowy, slippery and wet weather. Do I enjoy it? Absolutely not. But one of the things that has always gotten me through are the warm winter clothes that I own and purchase each year. So if you’re struggling on what to wear to keep you warm this winter hopefully some of these options below can help you out!

1. Booties

While they aren’t always the warmest shoe to wear and might not be the most ideal to wear in the rain, snow and sleet, they are quite cute and are a great way to start off the colder months, especially before all of the yucky winter weather starts to hit.

2. Scarves

So apparently blanket scarves are a thing of winter’s past, but if you like ‘em, wear ‘em! Sure they might not be the most flattering on women, but if they keep you warn then why not? But if blanket scarves aren’t your thing then any knitted, infinity or regular scarf will surely do the trick.

3. Ski Jackets

Beat the blustering winter winds by wearing your warm North Face, Roxy, Columbia, L. L. Bean or any other ski jacket to work or school when the temperatures are below the freezing mark. These may not be the most fashionable, but we’re going for warmth here, right?

4. Turtlenecks

I am not a fan of turtlenecks, as I do not like the feeling of something so tight around my neck. But Tory Burch styled a turtleneck with a cute summer dress, showing you that you can still wear those cute, neutral dresses you have and be warm all at the same time. But all in all turtlenecks are a great way to keep warm too!

5. Overcoats

Whether it is black or red, overcoats were thought to be a thing of the past, but Navy

overcoats have hit the runway with full speed ahead and is one of the biggest trends that will probably catch on this winter to keep you looking both stylish and warm.

6. Leggings

Style them with a cute dress, a long sweater and some boots. There is no rule against wearing a cute outfit and being comfortable too, especially in the cold months.

7. Knit hats

Love Your Melon has wonderful hats to keep your body heat inside of you during the winter months. But not only do Love Your Melon hats keep you warm, they also help to keep children suffering from cancer warm too. For more information check out Love Your Melon’s website!

8. Sweaters

I wear a different sweater almost every day because I am probably one of the coldest-natured people you will ever meet. So whether your favorite sweaters are long and cozy, hang open like a cardigan or you pull them over your head, wearing your favorite sweaters will never go out of style in the winter months. They are there to keep you warm, comfortable and cozy when you’re in class, at the office or even just running errands.

9. Boots

Knee-high boots, Bean boots, mid-calf high boots, over the ankle boots and even cowboy boots, no matter what kind you prefer to wear, any boot will help to keep your feet nice and toasty, and even stylish throughout the winter months when flats or sneakers just aren’t cutting it anymore because the temperatures are much cooler than you might prefer.

10. Boot socks

What’s better than a cute pair of boot socks to wear with your favorite boots? It’s one of

the cutest trends, in my opinion, and I cannot wait for the cooler temperatures to really start hitting here in north Georgia so I can wear mine!

11. Dark lipstick

And what girl can go through winter without a dark lipstick? Sure it isn’t an article of clothing to keep you warm, but it is one of those necessities us girls need sometimes for a night out on the town or to go with our new favorite winter outfit to show off. Clinique’s chubby sticks are one of my favorite go-to lipsticks because they don’t dry your lips out and last a long time.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
