You can find haunted and scary places all around America, but if you live in New Jersey, there are plenty of awesome places to take a road trip to! I have visited several of these locations, but others are still on my bucket list for the future. If you are into scary and haunted places, these are some that you have to add to your checklist!

1. The Spy House - Port Monmouth

The Seabrook-Wilson Homestead is located on the Bayshore Waterfront beach. It is known as the most haunted house in America. This house was used during the Revolutionary war to spy on troops. Many people have seen ghostly images through the windows while visiting the home.

2. The Pine Barrens - South Jersey

Legend has it that the Jersey Devil lives in these miles and miles of seemingly peaceful woods.

3. Whipporwill Valley Road - Middletown

Everyone says to never stop or shut down your car on this road during the night. People have confessed to hearing creepy sounds such as baby cries, the KKK roaming the road, witches, and people chasing them. There are also stories of cars not being able to start up again after being turned off on this road.

4. Snake Hill - Secaucus

Snake Hill has a giant rock that used to be inhabited by thousands of snakes. In the past, it was home to a psychiatric hospital and penitentiary.

5. The Devil’s Tree - Bernards Township

The legend is that a local farmer killed his wife and kids and then hung himself on the tree. Anyone who cuts down the tree will be cursed. Several people have tried and there are ax marks covering the tree.

6. Clinton Road - West Milford

Filled with stories of witches, ghosts, creepy writings, strange lights and songs, and Dead Man’s curve, this road is one that only the fearless visit.

7. Stephen Crane House - Asbury Park

This home was featured on Ghost Hunters. The legend is that scotch can’t be kept here because it mysteriously disappears, despite the bottle staying sealed closed.

8. Trenton Psychiatric Hospital - Trenton

This place is still standing and some parts of the building are actually still in use. There are creepy stories of terror and torture from the past.

9. Old Tennent Cemetery - Manalapan

This area was used during the Battle of Monmouth. Hundreds of people died on this site. Legends say that you can still find blood stains in the church and many people who visit can smell gunpowder and hear screams at night.

10. Burlington County Prison - Mount Holly

The place experienced many murders and executions in the past. People have said that the basement and death cell are extremely chilling locations. Construction workers have even reported missing tool, heard screams, and felt like they were being watched.

11. Proprietary House - Perth Amboy

Some people say that Revolutionary War Soldiers haunt the grounds of the now museum. Paranormal Researchers have discovered strange readings and people have reported ghosts grabbing at their necks.
