College can be a pretty rough time. You're trying to figure out who you want to be and what you want to do with your life. That's a lot of pressure for a 19-year-old kid. And while all of that is going on you're trying to at least make yourself look decent. Here are 11 hairstyles you have most definitely used while trying to survive college.

1. The party pony.

This hairstyle says you're ready to party. If you're rocking it there's a good chance you're out having fun with your friends. Or if you're like me, this is the only hairstyle you can pull off cause you're still trying to grow out your bangs. Ariana Grande also rocks this style so it's a cute one.

2. Wet hair, don't care.

You couldn't get up on time for class but you really needed to shower. So you hopped in the shower as quick as you could but you didn't have any time to dry it. So you're off to class looking like a wet dog.

3. The amazingly simple messy bun.

You don't have time for anyone's crap today. You were up late studying and this is the only style you cared enough to do. And it'll look like you got it right in one try but it probably took you 10 tries.

4. The tried and true ponytail.

You're at the gym. Or you look good with all your hair up. But it's more likely that you're at the gym because most people tend to look bald when their hair is up.

5. A slight variation: ponytail underneath a hat.

You haven't washed your hair in 4 consecutive days. Like I said, college is hard.

6. If you have a few extra minutes: hat with a french braid.

You haven't washed your hair in so long that the grease from your roots has traveled all the way down your hair. The hat braid combo is the only way to hide it.

7. The totally badass double pigtail french braids.

You really wanted to look cute today, but your hair is just too messy. Fly away city could only be tamed with the double braids. Plus, you look like a badass.

8. Curls are for the girls (who woke up in time to get ready).

You actually had time to get ready today, congrats! Or you're getting ready to hangout with friends and you wanted to look extra good.

9. Straight hair, don't care (too much).

You probably woke up early enough to get ready for class, but not early enough to do anything other than straighten it.

10. The enigma: half up half down bun.

You planned on doing your hair today but you got bored and lazy half way through it. It's a cute look though.

11. The "I woke up like this."

Your hair isn't greasy, you might've actually washed it last night. You just didn't have time to style it, or even brush it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
