You are finally an adult, but thankfully you still have a lot more life to live ahead of you. This habits will only help you in the future. Summer is the perfect opportunity to better yourself, because let's be honest what else are you doing, watching Netflix?
1. Use sunscreen daily.
No matter what you're doing, you should be protecting your skin. Doing this will not only help prevent premature aging, but will keep your largest organ healthy! No one wants to look like a lobster or have the chills because of an easily preventable sunburn.
2. Call your grandparents and long distance relatives regularly.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to tell someone how much you love them, especially your family.
3. Brush your teeth every morning and night.
I know you probably heard this so much as a kid, but seriously let do this. Not only are unbrushed teeth nasty, but bad oral hygiene can lead to heart conditions and much more. Plus no one wants yellow teeth in a selfie. *Bonus points if you floss*
4. Send handwritten letters to those you care about.
In today's world we are able to communicate quickly by text messages, but the act of sitting down and taking the time to tell someone how much they mean to you can go a long way.
5. Learn how to cook a signature meal.
Everyone loves Mac 'n cheese, but part of being an adult is knowing how to cook more than just from a box. Home-cooked meals are always better anyways.
6. Become organized.
Whether you do this by making lists or using a planner, being organized does not come easily to everyone but it is worth working on.
7. Volunteering once a month.
More if you have the time, but now is the time to help others every opportunity you have. Be thankful for what you have and give back to those who do not.
8. Take off you makeup before you go to sleep.
Not only is it bad for you skin, but who really wants to try to get those mascara stains out of your pillow case? Plus no one likes waking up looking like a hungover raccoon.
9. Stop drinking soda and drink more water.
Anything that is not water will dehydrate you so do yourself a favor and stay away from the super sugary sodas. There are a ton of healthy benefits to drinking at least a half-gallon of water per day, so start while you are young.
10. Track your spending.
Whether this means downloading an app to watch your spending or setting yourself an allowance, you should be aware of how much money you are spending. Your future self and bank account will thank you in the long run.
11. Smile at strangers.
I know some of us suffering from RBF (I do sometimes), but a friendly smile can go a long way. You never know how much people stress others are carrying, so always be kind.
