How I Met Your Mother had a nine season-long run during its time on television. It was a sitcom joining Ted Mosby on his journey to finding the love of his life, Throughout the show's run, audiences grew to both love and hate the ensemble cast of Ted and his eccentric group of friends. The show made us laugh, cry, and look at yellow umbrellas as a sign of hope and blue french horns as a sign of true love. Whether we liked the series finale or absolutely despised it, we can all agree that it had some of the best love quotes of any sitcom of its time.

1. "We struggle so hard to hold on to these things that we know are gonna disappear eventually. And that’s really noble." --Lily Aldrin

2. "There are two big days in any love story: the day you meet the girl of your dreams and the day you marry her."--Ted Mosby

3. "You can’t just skip ahead to where you think your life should be." --Lily Aldrin

4. "Whether a gesture’s charming or alarming, depends on how it’s received."--Ted Mosby

5. “If you’re not scared, you’re not taking a chance. And if you’re not taking a chance, then what the hell are you doing?” --Ted Mosby

6. "“Shouldn’t we hold out for the person who doesn’t just tolerate our little quirks, but actually kind of likes them?”--Ted Mosby

7. “You keep giving up on people, you’re going to miss out on something great.” --Robin Sherbatsky

8. “Sometimes things have to fall apart to make way for better things.”--Ted Mosby

9. "But love doesn't make sense. You can't logic your way into or out of it. Love is totally nonsensical. But we have to keep doing it, or else we're lost and love is dead and humanity should just pack it in. Because love is the best thing we do."--Ted Mosby

10. "Victoria is wunderbar, but she is not my "Lebenslanger Schicksalsschatz." She's my "Beinahe-Leidenschaftsgegenstand"... it means the thing that is almost the thing that you want, but it's not quite. That is Victoria to me. "Lebenslanger Schicksalsschatz" is not something that develops over time. It is something that happens instantaneously. It courses through you like the water of a river after a storm, filling you and emptying you all at once. You feel it throughout your body, in your hands, in your heart, in your stomach, in your skin... have you ever felt this way about someone? If you have to think about it, you have not felt it. Everyone does eventually. You just never know when or where." -- Klaus

11. ""Here's the secret kids. None of us can vow to be perfect. In the end all we can do is promise to love each other with everything we've got. Because love is the best thing we do."--Ted Mosby

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
