The 11 Funniest Uses Of The TR-8R Meme From The Force Awakens

Despite an incredibly minor role, riot stormtrooper FN-2199 was one of the biggest winners from the most recent Star Wars release, The Force Awakens. Drawing comparisons to perennial fan favorite Boba Fett for his iconic quotability and an aura of mystery, "TR-8R" quickly became a cult hero. Shortly after the film's release, the memes followed.

1. Chosen TR-8R

TR-8R-Wan Kenobi is most displeased by this turn of events. The light is betrayed left and right in this saga, so the occasional dark-side defector seems only fair.

2. TR-8R and Robin

TR-8R slaps sense into impressionable young Robin in this meme. Oh, you also think the First Order is evil? TRAITOR!

3. TR-8R 8 Minutes

This meme stands out for one quirky reason: it removes everything that originally made the "8 minutes since..." meme funny. Gone is the agonized boy in the foreground, replaced by TR-8R. This is creative stuff.

4. TR-8R Joe's

"Traitor" sounds like "Trader." Nothing about this is especially clever, but the Pun Force calls to you. Let it in.

5. Traitors HATE him!

There is no escape from Internet advertisement, or from TR-8R. The beauty of this meme is in the format, but bonus points are awarded for GIF variants incorporating sick spins.

6. FaceTime with TR-8R

I cannot make sense of this meme. It is nonetheless hilarious. "Spinny trooper," indeed.

7. TR-8R, Raider, Same Difference

We are officially mixing our Harrison Ford metaphors freely. Incorporating a movie poster, a franchise cross-reference, Jar-Jar Binks, and no fewer than four traitors, this meme makes a strong case for the best of them all.

8. Fridge TR-8R

Fridge raiders? More like fridge TRAITORS. Food and the First Order are sacred trusts.

9. TR-8R Intensifies

Nothing more clumsily expresses what goes on in media than an audio descriptive. If you can't listen to the film at full volume, you probably shouldn't bother watching the rest.

10. TR-8R Was There

Know Your Meme traces the origin of the panel spread in this meme to the now-infamous Left Shark. Some say TR-8R's version is properly titled "Left Spin."

11. TR-8R Never Studies

Covert. You sure fooled them, TR-8R; this is a better use of your time anyway.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
