When you hear the term "Spring Break," the first thing that comes to mind is probably that movie with James Franco and Vanessa Hudgens. Spring Break is arguably the best part of the college experience. It's a time where you get together with your friends, take a break from school, and spend a week in a tropical location. However, not every college kid gets the chance to do Spring Break (including me), so I decided to come up with a list of other activities you can do during that week off!

1. Take a day trip

Just because you can't take a week off to go to some tropical island, doesn't mean you can't take a day trip to the city. For New England residents, the best places to take day trips to are Boston, New York City, and Newport. Taking a weekend trip to a farther place like Philly or Baltimore is a great idea too!

2. Go on a hike

Try not to spend your entire spring break inside watching Netflix. Get outside and take advantage of the fresh air by going on a hike at one of your local parks.

3. Spend quality time with your family

Carve out some time to spend with your parents and siblings. You're usually busy throughout the semester with homework and don't get the chance to spend time with your family, so Spring Break is the perfect chance to do it.

4. Go to Dave & Buster's

This one is oddly specific, but it's such a great place to go if you're looking for something fun to do. If you've never been here, you have to go immediately. It's literally an arcade for grown-ups, and there's even a bar/restaurant attached. It is seriously so much fun.

5. Go to the movies

So many amazing movies have come out this year already, but there's never enough time to see them all. Catch up on the Oscar winning flicks you missed and check out the new movies that are doing really well at the box office.

6. Start a healthy gym routine

If you're a little late on your New Year's resolution to go to the gym, then make Spring Break the time to get healthy! This is the perfect time to get yourself motivated to go to the gym because you won't have to worry about school or homework getting in the way.

7. Finally finish that show you've been trying to watch all semester

I know I mentioned before that you shouldn't spend your Spring Break binge watching Netflix — but who am I kidding? That's what time off from school is all about. So binge away, and the best part is you won't have to feel guilty about it.

8. Catch up on politics

This one may not be for everyone, but it's definitely important. Get yourself informed on the latest events in politics so you know what's going on in the world. You also may want to stay up-to-date on the latest nonsense that comes out of Trump's mouth.

9. Go to a bar/hangout with your hometown friends

There's nothing like getting together with old friends you haven't seen in a while. Plan a night out with friends from your hometown and reminisce on old times together (assuming that there's some friends left that didn't go away for spring break, too).

10. Go shopping for spring apparel

Get a head start on your spring/summer wardrobe! Now is the perfect time to take advantage of sales at outlets and department stores. Maybe even start looking for bathing suits.

11. Learn a new recipe

Find a recipe or dig one out that you've been dying to try and make a day out of it. Channel your inner chef and impress your family by making dinner for them or by having a day where you just make a bunch of baked goods.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
