Tulsa is a weird city in that sometimes it seems like there is a lot going on at any given time, but other times it can feel like there is never anything to do, so you just end up sitting at home all day. That can get super boring super fast, especially if you don't have a lot of money to spend, so it's important to always keep an eye out for free events and activities! Here are the best free things to do in Tulsa this summer:
1. Guthrie Green
The park is located downtown and always has fun things going on. They do movie nights, yoga on the green, concerts, and several other things. And it's all free!
2. Mayfest
Mayfest is always fun because you can buy cool art, clothing, or jewelry, but you can also enjoy the festival for free. There's no cost to walk around, looking at the art or enjoying the live music, and it's a great way to spend the weekend.
3. Riverside
Even with all the construction going on in that area, there are still a bunch of things to do on Riverside. You can walk the trails, hang out by the river, or explore the creepy and cool tunnels that are down there.
4. Turkey Mountain
The place is gorgeous, free, and has tons of different trails to walk or hike.
5. Chandler Park
Another free park, but this one also has places to rock climb, a playground for the kids, a swimming pool, and a venue that can be rented out for gatherings or festivals.
6. Summer's Fifth Night
Every summer, Utica Square has "Summer's Fifth Night," which happens every Thursday night from 7-9pm. It's free and fun to attend with friends or family!
7. First Friday Art Crawl
On the first Friday of every month, you'll find hundreds of people wandering around the Brady District, looking at art and having a good time (for free!).
8. The Porter Peach Festival
Okay, this one isn't in Tulsa, but it's only about 40 minutes away. Plus, you get free peaches and ice cream, so it's worth the drive.
9. First Friday Concerts at LaFortune Park
On the first Friday of the month, you can also stop by LaFortune Park from 7-9 p.m. to hang out at the park and listen to some free, local music. Dogs are welcome!
10. The Blue Dome Arts Festival
Right after Mayfest is the Blue Dome Arts Festival, which is just as fun, just as cool, and just as free.
11. Philbrook Museum
The museum is free for families to visit ever second Saturday of the month, and admission is always free if you have a student ID.
