They're just around the corner and they're probably going to kick all of us in the butt or make the idea of dropping out very appealing. Tons of coffee and energy drinks will be consumed. The thought of all-nighters in the library fills you with dread, especially when you see the amount of material you have to somehow cram into your brain. Thankfully, there are awesome people in the world who have made some songs that might make finals week study breaks a little more bearable, especially if you love a good old rock song and some pop music.
1. "Don’t Stop Believin’" by Journey
It's an iconic song and useful in many situations. From close football games to finals week, Steve Perry's soaring vocals will make you feel like you can do anything. Not to mention the guitar parts that are so much fun to jam to.
2. "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen
Because who doesn't enjoy impersonating all the voices and calling Gailieo's name in a high pitch voice? The genius that is Freddy Mercury created the perfect song to let loose to during finals week. It's oddly relatable, too; the lyrics talk about going away for killing someone and you'll probably feel like the library's prisoner while you're studying.
3. "Careless" by Royal Blood
Change it up a little and throw in some hard rock. It's a song about wishing you cared less, which we all wish we could do once finals roll around. If we cared less and our GPAs didn't matter so much, we wouldn't care so much about making good grades. Regardless, this song will help you get rid of some angst.
4. "Budapest" by George Ezra
Take your mind off your studying and think about European adventures with this cute British singer/songwriter. Who needs exams and a degree when you've got a British dude who's willing to give up everything for you?
5. "Under Pressure" by David Bowie and Queen
You'll definitely feel under pressure. Thankfully, that catchy melody that's also from "Ice Ice Baby" will make you feel a little bit better about all the information you're reading but not absorbing.
6. "Dance the Night Away" by Van Halen
Why not take a break and do some dancing in the middle of the library? It would be a great stress reliever, not to mention something everyone involved would remember. And there are plenty of good dancing songs out there to keep you dancing all night.
7. "Keep Going" by The Revivalists
A good song by a good band with a great message for finals. You won't want to keep going after about ten minutes in the library but you know you have to so you pass your exams. Put this song on as you study and the motivation will come to you.
8. "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC
If you don't already, you'll feel like you're on this highway. But you may find yourself on the brighter, less burning hot side once you make it into summer. Even so, it's a good song to keep you on the path while you study.
9. "Help!" by The Beatles
Help may become your motto during finals as you drown in more material than you know what to do with or all the coffee you've consumed. Never fear because the Beatles and summer are coming to the rescue!
10. "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago
This one is for all nighters. It was written in response to another Chicago song called, "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is," which is something you'll wonder throughout finals week. However, this song is about struggling to write songs in the middle of the night, around 3:30am, thus 25 or 6 to four. Those all nighters will make you feel like you're searching for words. But hey, the horn section is killer in this song.
11. "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash
Finals week makes you seriously consider dropping out of school and giving up. This song won't make you want to stay but it definitely might make you want to go far, far away from school. If not, it'll be a good song to help you deal with the finals week angst.
