It's finally fall, which means winter is just around the corner! As the months get colder, you may be thinking about doing things to make your room feel more warm and cozy. These eleven essentials are perfect for chilly morning and comfy nights in.

1. Fuzzy blankets

What could be better than binge-watching your favorite show wrapped up in plush, fuzzy blankets?

2. Throw pillows

When it comes to throw pillows, the limit does not exist. No joke, I have eight pillows on my bed right now.

3. Get a legit comforter

A good comforter is honestly life-changing. There are tons of options for different budgets and fillings, depending on your preferences. Pair it with a fun duvet cover and prepare to hibernate.

4. A rug

Cold hardwood floors feel especially harsh on chilly mornings. Give your feel something nice and squishy to land on in the morning. If you're feeling extra fancy, you can layer rugs, like a large area rug with a smaller, fluffier rug next to your bed.

5. Wall tapestry

If you live in an apartment or dorm where you can't paint the walls, or just don't want to commit to a paint color, tapestries are a great option. They are a great way to break up blank wall space and you can swap them out seasonally to match your other decor. Don't see one you like in a store or online? Hit up your local fabric store, they're incredibly easy to DIY.

6. String lights

I hate the sterile, bright overhead lighting in my room, especially as it gets darker outside. Opt for something softer and warmer with string lights. (Bonus points if you snag some on sale around the holidays.)

7. Himalayan salt lamp

Not only do they give off a gorgeous glow, real Himalayan salt lamps have great health benefits.

8. Candles

You can go for real or electronic candles. There are even remote controlled electronic candles if you're too lazy to get out of bed to turn them off. Candles do wonders for the ambiance of a room.

9. Fragrance diffuser

There are so many options nowadays, there's something for everyone. Essential oil diffusers, diffusers that plug into outlets, wax warmers, scented candles, the list goes on and on. Fill your space with a warm, inviting scent

9. Plants

I like having some plants inside during the colder months when trees are barren and the plants outside are mostly gone to liven up the room. Plus, taking care of a plant can be really helpful if you are experiencing seasonal depression or struggling with other mental health conditions. It's a great form of self-care.

11. A furry friend

If all else fails, cozy up in bed with your dog or cat.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that.
